I've also tried ThermoDynamix in the past, but didn't do anything. Mind you, I can't say I was eating clean at the time, so was probably expecting miracles with no work!

Am giving Cytolean a go, but just started today, so it's far too early to tell. But I'm using it in conjunction with vastly cleaner eating, so to be honest I'm not sure if I'll be able to attribute the fat loss I anticipate solely to using it. Probably not worth the money really, but got it at bb.com as part of a bigger consignment so it barely cost anything in the grand scheme of things so I'm willing to try it once.

Last time I competed I swore by Fahrenheit (Biotest), I don't remember feeling jittery. If she's just looking at something to accelerate fat lose I would actually rate their Seven too. And, no I don't work for Biotest - I've just found their products particularly effective, although not cheap.

Chromiums good for cravings and cardios good for fat loss :)

ive already got her on a cardio rageme. just looking for that little extra to speed up the process.

il hunt down some Chromiums and have a wee gander :D

How much do you want to "speed up the process". Changes wont happen overnight - but they will happen (sounds like a Pantene commercial).

I'm not a fan of thermos, and like to keep it all down to food, training and cardio. Lets face it, if there was a SUPER PILL out there, the company that made it would be uber-wealthy and the world would have no more fat issues.

I reckon save your moola for some nice new clothes once she has trimmed down. :D

Even when I lean down for a comp I stay off the fat-burners. Half a cup of black coffee and 3-4 sessions per week of intervals (sprint 1 min, walk 1 min) first thing in the morning for 30 minutes is all I do.

I think that it PTinCHCH (or his g/f) needs to be aware that any of the above contributors would have used a thermo/fat burner in CONJUCTION with a calorie controlled diet, and, wait for it, EXERCISE.

Therefore, how can one tell if the pill/potion/placebo really made that much of a difference?

Lets look at calories in fat. There are 3500cals in 500g of FAT, which of course equals 7000cals in a kilo of fat.

Ive never heard or seen it reported on ANY fatburners exactly how many cals they can burn off. (I sell supplements as a sideline but deter ALL my clients from using any bullshite products, so I see lots of product mumbo jumbo).

It is widely known that to lose weight you should be eating less calories, and 500 less per day is a good guideline. Food intake should be clean, and if possible, thermogenic foods (where it takes the bod more calories to burn them than they actually contain). Visit.... http://www.burnthefat.com/fat_burning_foods.html

Then, take in a good hour or so powerwalk per day or 40-50min jog/run and you will burn approx 500 cals per day.

500cals x 7 days = 3500....oooh looksee, its the same calories as that half kilo of fat I mentioned earlier!

The girlfriend has gained 8 kilos, so you can figure out how long it could take for her to lose it; 1/2 to 1kg per week is possible.

Also, how come the girl has put on "8 kilos since we met"...what the hell have you been feeding her?

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2,4-Dinitrophenol

LOL!

And if the DNP doesn't kill her (or turn her orange!) you could get the SUPER PILL that is making the manufacturers uber-wealthy, well technically it's not a pill & you'll need a glass pipe or broken light bulb....... :pfft:

(As an aside I see the uber-wealthy in this case are about to ass raped of their assets under new legislation, couldn't happen too soon IMHO).

Seriously though, listen to the ladies words of wisdom. No magic thermos needed, she (not you on her behalf LOL) needs to sort her diet & exercise programme if she wants to change. Calories in, Calories out, simple!

That's because the answer might as well be "zero".

Back when you could get ephedrine, it actually worked. The effect was small, but it did actually do something; I think like a 2-3% increase in BMR or something like that.

Most of the ones these days are mainly just caffeine, and a few may use yohimbine or related alkaloids. The only real effect you'll get out of that is appetite suppression and whatever mental boost (which can affect calorie balance in their own way, but they aren't magical by any means as it's only affecting your behaviors in that regard).

Yohimbine might be worth it for some populations but that's a different discussion entirely and has little to do with direct "fat burning" effects.

Hell even DNP only nets you around 11% increase in BMR per 100mg, which may be barely enough to help offset some of the normal decreases in metabolic rate from calorie restriction.

I'll definately jump on Sheta's side of the fence for this one. Coming up to comp I'd save the fatburners for 3 weeks out and then only every other day--I hated them. Although, I was using the old Hotrox-those babies gave me a good kick in the pants. It seems a lot of it is psychological for most, we all want the quick fix. Perhaps your GF could read this thread instead of hearing it secondhand from you.... I know I never really put much stock in anything my ex ever said to me. lol

ILets look at calories in fat. There are 3500cals in 500g of FAT, which of course equals 7000cals in a kilo of fat.

Correct me if Im wrong but there is 4500cals in 500g of fat, or 9000 in 1kg.

The standard is 3500 per pound of body fat (thats what Ive been taught by AUT & IAPC); so it could be slightly off considering a pound is 0.453 of a kilow. Google 'calories in body fat' and many sites will agree with the 3500 number.

When we look at the calories of fat it is 9cals per 1g (proteins & carbs are 4cals per 1g), therefore your figure of 4500 would stand correct. :?

Lets not get too hung up on numbers on this thread - the topic is how to help this woman.

When i want to cut down bodyfat i start drinking green tea, red bush tea or parsley tea. Along with exercise and a good diet. Red bush is great because it allows your body to absort protein still. But Green tea and parsley do not. Also eating Broccoli helps accordin to my room mate she is a doc of chinese medicine.

Where did you hear that? I heard it was the other way around - a high protein diet nutralised the so-called slimming effects of green tea which were caused by EGCG which is a polyphenol, and polyphenols are easily deactivated by proteins.

I guess it depends what you are aiming to achieve by drinking green tea.
