If his feet are still growing get him some chucks (Chuck Taylors). 'Proper' shoes can be expensive. See link below:

Are you referring to olympic weightlifting shoes, or just general lifting? For oly shoes Getstrength.com used to sell them (got mine from there), but I don't think they sell them any more. So your best bet is an overseas site, good thing the dollar is favourable at the moment!
