Needle Exchange

Recommended Posts

I have a new (gym) client who works at the Needle Exchange in the Waikato. They are pretty concerned in there about the amount of guys (newbies to gear obviously) who pop in for needles and dont know what size they need - or even what to do with the stuff.

Is there a site that I can refer my client to so that they can pass out some safety info.

A young guy went in this week with 4 vials of goodness-knows-what that he paid a grand for. Apparently the seller told him just to go to the exchange and get some needles; which seems pretty bloody stupid to me.

Any info would be appreciated; needle sizes for what type of product etc etc.

I'd like to state this info in NOT FOR ME - I dont inject, never will, but would like to see those that do, do it safely.

I use that needle exchange and last time I went in the woman working at the time mentioned the same thing to me.

Tell them to check this website.

23g 1" or 25g 1" will suit any oil based gear for quad, ventro gluteal and delt injections. Probably need 1.5" needles for glute injections but I personally wouldn't recommend pinning this site.

1.5" needles may be needed for fatter individuals pinning the ventro gluteal site.

.

why not?

As already said, it's an awkward site to inject by yourself.

Ventro gluteal is the preferred site by docs and nurses these days as there's less chance of veins and nerves in this area. Injecting yourself this site is very easy, can be done with two hands and gives less pain than other sites. Wish I'd known about it when I did my first cycle.

personally i would consider the greens for loading, and the blue for sticking. the larger the gauge the easier it would be to draw. i have heard that 1.5" is good for glutes. thighs if you get the wrong spot or do it regularly can cause pressure on nerves (hence hurting like hell)

If any of you use the Hamilton exchange, can you please share info with the ladies in there. It would be greatly appreciated by them.

Why dont people get more knowledge, or the sellers provide a few needles to get them going...and show them how to do it properly.

I really don't have an issue with waiting a bit longer to draw up. The difference in time it takes between a 19g and a 23g is only about 30s. No need to rush these things.

Although I would like to point out to any newbies reading this, using one needle to draw and another to inject is a very good idea. It ensures the needle you stick yourself with is as sterile as possible and the rubber bung blunts needles a lot making them much harder to push through your skin and a lot more painful. A fresh needle should slide in smoothly with no resistance and should not hurt.

It is not only a "good idea" it is ESSENTIAL that you ALWAYS replace the drawing pin with a fresh one before injecting.

Please guys if you are not sure of proper injection proceedure refer to the sites I posted ^^^ or do you want me to Post Up "IM Injection - 101"????

problem with using a bigger needle for drawing is it splits the rubber and u end up with it in the oil, leaving the possibilty of it ending up in the syringe

20g (yellow) is best option for drawing to avoid above. However some UG Labs use an inferior rubber stopper. Again its good to be using best possible oils & vials. Pay a bit more but no hassels normally.
