Should I Sell My Mountain Bike?

I have a jamis durango mountain bike sort of like this one...

I just bought it off trade me cheap and hoped to fix it up and sell it off for a profit but it didn't really work out after $300 of parts that needed fixing. I was intending to do a bit of biking around Wood Hill when I head back home from uni in a few weeks.

But to be honest, it's quite a hassle to lug around with me moving all the time and also Wood Hill is like 40 mins away from where I live in Auckland anyhow.

If I sell it, I should be able to sell it on trade me for hopefully around $500.

I have a road bike that I exercise on too, so I don't really need this one unless I'm going to go into the forest on it.
