Thought I’d put up something positive in relation to my experiences with PT’s.

I can’t speak highly enough of the PT’s I’ve worked with over the last couple of years. Without their input and assistance I wouldn’t have achieved what I did this year. Their combined experience and knowledge has been invaluable.

I did begin with the “free sessions” from the normal gym PT’s but found them just there to kill time and just knew the basics.

To get ahead I bit the bullet and spent the extra to get someone with the real knowledge. I know a lot of people can’t afford it and therefore take on advice from a lot of forums and gym members, then filter it and adjust it to suit their goals. Everyone chooses their own method that suits their lifestyle and budget. I’m sure my wife sometimes wishes I’d chosen another lifestyle – but that’s a whole new topic.

How about a thread on “What our partners think of our chosen sport”.

Anyway I’ve always been one to look for advice from experts, people who have been there and done that. And people who actually look as though they know what they’re doing. Each of the people I’ve been with do things differently – some things work, some don’t. But at least they have the knowledge and expertise to adjust it to suit your particular shape / size.

Why shag around trying everything under the sun to see what works when you can go straight to the people who know and save you a lot of time.

Eventually I hope to have gained enough knowledge to not rely on these guys so much, but as I’m relatively new to competitive bodybuilding having experienced and knowledgeable PT’s to work with has potentially saved me a lot of wasted time and effort.

There are some PT’s out there who shouldn’t be in the business – judging by some of the other threads - but there are also a lot of really good people too.

If you to do your research and pick the right one, from personal experience you’ll receive huge benefits.

Thats awesome greyghost!

You are quite fortunate you found a such a good PT early on in your training, because as you say alot of club PTs that people get assigned to when they first join up are just there to put in there 8 hours and go home.

This is often peoples first ever experience with working with a PT and can damage a persons perception of them forever.

At the end of the day if a club PT had faith in thier own ability and knowledge they would be working as a private contractor and not a club PT.And if you dont have faith in your own abilities to deliver results, why the hell should anyone else!! I mean why would you work for a gym getting minimum wage (12$phr) doing essentially the same job as a private contractor wno is getting 60-100$ an hour! That in itself is an admitance of thier own inability to perform the job.

Agree totally,

my trouble is that maybe i read too many forums!

Have to knuckle down and stop experimenting with supplements etc (having just ordered some more!) and stick to PT advice.

As "steak" so wisely told me a while ago "its a marathon not a sprint".

But to rub salt (no pun intended) in the wound he keeps posting his excellent log and size improvements.
