Best Grill? Is Goerge Foreman still the champ?

Heard of others using Breville grills - I think theres one called the Health Smart grill or something.

Whats the general consensus... what is the best and most cost effective grill on the market?

I broke a George - found it flimsy and didn't like the grilled bottom plate.

The Breville TG-850, with a flat bottom plate, in my view, is the bee's knees !

I just bought a Breville one cos it was cheap and I'm lazy, can't be arsed with high maintenance shit, e.g. cleaning grooved surfaces ala GF grill. Baking paper is awesome for lining the grill with and the meat still browns on the outside. Win win 8)

Cleaning a George is a pain in the arse.

Roasting bags in the oven for chicken breasts (drain immediately once cooked to get rid of the juices / fats).

Cast iron fry pan for steak (cut the fat off and use minimal cooking spray in the bottom).

I own a George Forman grill it can be royal pain in the ass to clean at some stage I might buy a bellville grill at some stage

That one looks like the one I have, and I love it. Pain to clean the grooves though, but I still use it all the time. Best Fly Buys reward I've got so far!

I have a George Foreman, use it all the time. Haven't found it too hard to clean but I have nothing to compare it too.

No other complaints, in fact I love it to bits, use it for lunch and dinner nearly every day.

Also, my flatmate went through a massive bout of food poisoning recently, it may or may not have been from Chicken a la George but not confirmed (apparently rice is really bad too? I had no idea!).

The latest George Foreman is easy to clean plates pop out, and presto, you can also purchase special grooved cleaning pads - easy!

I have a flat toasted sammich maker from The warehouse that I cook my steak and chicken on it was very cheap and it works just fine!

I have too GF grills, the old school one and the one with removable plates. But the one with removable plates takes FOREVER to heat up and the old one is a BITCH to clean..

Yes. The Breville lined with baking paper.

I tried a George Foreman once. Even pre-heated on the hottest setting, it didn't brown the meat so much as lightly steam it to a pale shade of grey. I took it back. :roll:

Breville Icon, it's their top range one so costs a bit but it's well worth it. I chewed through 2 George Formans in quick succession but this Breville one is great. :nod:

Mine's the TG-850, scored it on Flybuys, but LV Martin has it for $119.90.

I think mine's the same as TFB's, also from Fly Buys - I've had it for about 2 and a half years now and it's still going strong.

I have this model with removable plates, in my opinion a must have if your going to buy a George foreman.. I also have the breville grill TFB speaks of. I think the George is better. The fats didn't run off that well on the flat bottom.

I have the newer George Foreman with removable plates, but it doesn't heat up as quickly or get as hot as the older model did. The only advantages I can think of is ease of cleaning, and if you like to slow cook your meat...

Haven't heard of the Breville one before, may give that a look as an alternative.
