Is there something gravely bad about taking creatine mohohydrate? yes micronised is recommended over monohydrate and I'm guessing its more finer and purer, but if you increase dosage of moho by a small amount won't it do the same job as micronised?

just thinking. because mono is very very cheaper compared to the micronised one.

i had good results with non-micronized monohydrate back in the days. does the job.

Bad idea. The advantage of micro, as you said, is it's finer so more is absorbed. If you increse your dosage of mono, yes some more will be used but also, more will not be absorbed. When it's not, it turns toxic...

DOH. Is the IQ level dropping around here of is everyone using to much DMAA and can't focus on the screen? Micronised Creatine IS THE SAME AS Creatine Monohydrate - it is micronised creatine monohydrate. Creatine Mono is not going to kill you. Most creatine is micronised, all creapure creatine is micronised even if it doesn't say it is. Some cheap shit from china and EAS Phosphagen isn't micronised so doesn't tend to dissolve as well and may not be absorbed as well as micronised creatine. It may cause a bit more water to be held under the skin. It is no more or less toxic that micronised unless it has been manufactured badly and contains impurities. It's not toxic if it doesn't get absorbed but will probably blow you up like the stay-puffed marshmallow man.

Good post, Flex, along the same lines as what I thought but wasn't sure enough of it to post :shifty:

The stuff I buy locally like $50 for 1kg in a silver bag just says Creatine Monohydrate. And in water it hardly dissolves, and deposits as sediments at the bottom, so I just down it while giving a good stirring.

Do you use cold water? If not, try warm or hot, it dissolves much easier. I sometimes have it with my green tea.

hey hey now dont hate on phosphogen it's still a great creatine product, infact they were the first to come out with supplement creatine and alot of studies were done using it.I still use and I feel it works as good as creapure micronised creatine.

I think Im going to regret challenging flex :shifty:

why does everyone try to mix it in water???it is a tasteless powder,I just take a scoop directly in the mouth and chug some water down.it is heaven compared to BCAA powder.!

Someone can correct me if I'm wrong here, but I'm under the impression your body absorbs it better if it's dissolved into a liquid first. I dissolve it into my green tea, nice and easy and takes 30secs to do.

(as an aside, hot/warm water is better than cold if dissolving - check

for a comparison).

Thanks for the tip Drizzt, I'd wondered about mixing it in a warm drink, but was unsure about any possible negatives (and hadn't pulled finger and looked into it  ).

Any ideas about possible problems with mixing it in black coffee?

AFAIK, black coffee is sweet to mix it in with - I remember reading that the initial studies on creatine proving its effectiveness (don't have any links on hand, sorry - will try dig 'em up) used tea/coffee to mix the creatine into.

There is the "caffeine + creatine" is bad crowd, but I don't buy into that - partly because the initial studies used caffeinated drinks and the benefits were still there. However a lot of people prefer to be more safe than sorry with this, and that's fair enough.

I'm sure Flex will chime in if I'm wrong :shifty:
