I'm currently trying to justify getting one of these:

The multimedia stuff is nice, but it's the fact it brings everything in Outlook (contacts, tasks, appointments, etc) onto my phone that does it for me. My old Windows Mobile phone died, and going back to a standard phone feels like I've lost a limb.

Windows Mobile seems to be a more customisable operating system than the iPhone. That does mean that to dig around in the OS, you often need to use a stylus, which isn't so handy. But most WM phones come with decent GUIs installed over the top (the HTC's GUI is excellent) so you get the best of both worlds.

I have an i-phone 3G and it is a very useful device.

The only serious downside is that the battery life is not great. I believe that this has improved greatly on the 3GS but on the standard version it lasts at most two days. It is however user friendly and there are plenty of apps to play with and will tick all the boxes that you require. One thing is is cool is that all the SMS come in a conversation bubble which is very handy.

It goes without saying that having a stylish phone and an i-pod together is a brilliant idea.

A stupid downside that I found is once you have one it is very difficult to stop playing with it and put it down.

iPhone all the way

I've got a 32GB 3GS and it's honestly the best device I've ever owned. All my music, photos, games and rosters and I've still got 15GB spare.

I think the one thing that is slightly overlooked by most is that an iPhone is a computer and it takes all your devices (laptop, phone, camera and video recorder) and slaps them into one. This means instead of carrying around allot of crap it's all there in your pocket.

Get one you wont be disappointed.

PS Battery life is good on the 3GS, using it for email, gps, games and of course a phone every day constantly it will last 2 full days. If your not doing allot on it you can sqeeze out 4 days easy.

for those that dont want to spend quite that much on a phone, heres the next best thing, got most of the same features obviously not quite as smooth not having itunes to sync all music etc but overall $ to goodness ratio not a bad buy

i will be getting one shortly

my flatmate has the new iphone 3gs and its awesome but i cant justify spending $1350 on one when the one above does basicly the same thing but is 3x more

Pretty good browser and some of the app's are good, but mine crashed and froze way too much for my liking

reception isn't the greatest either. I got rid of mine after a few weeks. it's a pretty toy with shiny interface. I'd get an ipod touch and a decent nokia. That way you can do all the stuff the iphone does well on the ipod and you have a phone that lasts more than a day. Most new nokias can create a wifi link for your ipod or laptop. Job Done!

Do it you won't regret it. I have the HTC Touch Pro and it shits all over the iPhone, then again I would feel that way about any Windows Mobile OS because I can code for it. The touch-flo on the HTC's is excellent.

Also I love mine because along with the awesome touch screen it has a ful QWERTY keyboard... can't be beaten for emails etc. Anyone that uses an iPhone for business is losing out.

Hows that battery life? I waited forever to get one of those last year but got inpatient and bought the HTC TYTN ll instead after flogging off the iphone. I am missing the WM OS a little, but currently glad to be back on nokia S60 since I got a new e71. great for work applications and battery life is amazing (boring I know but weak battery is the bain of my life!).

I got one of these a while ago when they were a bit more pricey, pretty good phone but has nothing on an iphone as far as apps and stuff go, music player is decent, but its quite bulky also

Because you could be typing your emails on a full qwerty keyboard.. yet to see anyone type anything fast on an iPhone.

That all?

lol, um for most people using for business like I said that is a fairly major advantage.

I cant comment on fast typing on qwerty or iphone as my left thumb is fused in the middle joint and cant use it on any phones let alone my laptop haha. Never been fast at typing anywho

You can type resonably fast on the iPhone, but you are correct it is a pain until you get use to it.

As far as windows based operating system phones go (oh I'm not expert on this :pfft: ) the ones I have dealt with suck big time. They are slow and cumbersome just like windows computers.

MAC all the WAY \:D/ \:D/ \:D/ (that will get the IT geeks fuming :pfft: )

Piss taking aside, go and muck around with both phones and decided what suits your needs. At the end of the day everybody is different.

I've got a 32gig 3GS currently, absolutely love it. However I would've been more than happy with the newer HTC Touch (I loved the old Okta Touch I had), and it was a bit of a toss up between the two.

In the end it came down to me immediately "getting" the iPhone interface, and after having already owned an HTC (/Okta) phone, I was keen to try something different. The app store was another large drawcard for me (which I've made great use of so far), and I've found that I kind of personally prefer the iPhone OS as opposed to a Windows one like the HTC.

I've got a couple of cool workout apps on the iPhone too (which I admittedly neglect to use often!) that come in handy when they are required.
