It's funny that I've been going to the gym on and off for 10 years now and I've been to many gyms around Wellington and Europe and only seen about a dozen people do 140 with good technique for reps.

Now all of a sudden it's common place for tiny tits to be throwing it round like it's nothing?

I'm thinking we have a few internet warriors on nzbb.

Haha exactly what I was thinking. If someone touches the bar with finger tips it is STILL A SPOT. I have seen maybe 5-6 people rep 140-150 plus in my 3 to 4 years of training.

I never said anything bout needing a spot. If thats all you've seen Sam, then you havn't seen a hell of alot have you.. My BJJ instructor benched 200 for an easy 10 reps back in his day.. You guys are talking like its unheard of, there are lifters stronger than your boof head mate who you think is 'the man' and outside of your gym incase you hadnt realised..

As Specter says..... throw up a video and prove the haters wrong.

All you gotta do is put aside 5 mins from your "perfect BJ" lessons.

Mate I dont doubt your lifts for a second. I was more making a point that proper form and gym form are two different things. Who would be my boofhead mate? You mean Nick... The guy who squats 320kg any day of the week? Haha...

Keep up those BJJ lessons with your smart ass shit it would be a good idea to learn how to fight...

200x10 is pretty insane, that's like a raw max of at least 230kg? Probably more. That's the level of elite powerlifters and highly out of the ordinary. If he did that he should be documented somewhere. As for getting 10 at 140 at 86 that still puts you well into what I would imagine is the top 1% of humans in terms of pushing strength. Find someone at your gym who has a phone that can record video.

200 x 10 RAW bench would equate to a 250 RAW single. Heck I would like to know who your instructor is. In NZ there would probably be only 2 or 3 lifters that could lift 250kg+ RAW for a max single and like SamWelly says, spotting or touching the bar doesnt count (like a lot of people do).

At mid 80kgs repping 140 for 6-10 reps is an excellent lift and would equate to roughly a 180-195kg RAW single which is over double bodyweight. HARDCOREPT1 you should consider powerlifting with that kind of strength. NZ's top powerlifting bench presser at 82.5kg is from Christchurch and is capable of 200-210 in a shirt.

Bench shirts by the way dont give you an addititional 50% (well not the single ply shirts that NZ powerlifters use) its more like 15-20% for most lifters. Gettng anything above that percentage then consider yourself lucky!
