i have been trying to really increase the number of push ups recently...

while increasing overall strength through working out i still find the best way is to just do them !!!!

when i sat my first police tests i just manage to get to the required 34. the last month i have been really focusing on the and am up to 50...

hopefully when my leg is better and i sit the tests again ill be able to bust out heaps

i have been thinking about it and am curious to know how size and strenght relates to how many press ups you can do ...........

so how many can you do ???????........(honestly ) no :^o

My record got to 50 when I was in the Army, i weighed about 50 kgs.

Mostly cos i got in so much trouble and got them for punishment.

In the end when they promoted me they said do you know why..cos we want you on our side. :pfft:

Shit stirrer me.

Now I am 40yrs..58kgs I do a fitness comp with my students and my record this year is 36

fark 120 is alot...from memory the guy doin the police tests said the record at a test was about 80 i think..... they make you go right down to where your chest hits his fist on the ground.... by the time i finally get around to retest i should be carrying a lot less fat and be alot stronger tho so you never know could try for a new record...

50 is a good number, I have always tried to maintain that as a level.

I usually sit around 85-90kg and keep my press ups strict, slow and steady, good straight back and right to the floor then back to arms length.

I did the NZ Army officer selection board last year and after the run and sit-ups (well crunches) I managed 46 but was beaten by little weeds with really bad form, was actually surprised how relaxed they were about that. As I mentioned the crunches, not many people failed to make the high score which from memory was something like 120 so that says something.

50 sounds like the target for most!

My PT is in Tahiti this week for the sth Pac BB champs so using had a session with a power lifter and got me to do "300" workout

40 mins max

50 pull ups

50 pressups

50 deadlifts (60kg)

50 leg lifts whilst holding barbell at armms length (40kg)

50 box jumps

50 more pull ups (weighted luckily)

gets heart rate up!

Most full ones I ever did was 25 - but that was about 6 years or so ago, so I might be able to crank out more now.

At the moment I'm just doing a few every now and then, and just doing a couple of sets of 15/10 - but I'm going to try and amp it up a bit, as I read that Tara from True Blood gets her arms from doing 30/20/10 - and I love her arms!!

I would struggle to do 30. Dumb. What do they call a situp?

They are crunches not sit-ups. (Read back over the comment)

But with arms on the ground. And you have to sit up, slide your hand along the ground and touch a line. No shoulder shrugging.
