I guess my point is that those guys are so far ahead of everyone else why bother if you cant compete with them on there level .

 Are you serious?????? Why bother doing anything then if somebody is better than you? I wonder do you even train with an attitude like that you will never throw around good tin.

I do train , 25 years and counting , I do throw a bit of weight around.

I didnt say dont try and beat someone is better than you , but you wouldnt try and reach the stars in MARK 111 ZEPHER now would ya. YOU JUST AINT GONNA GET THERE.Have you any idea what it takes to get to be competitive at the pro level or what those guys have to do to get there.Look at Kai Green couldnt pay his rent got evicted, Humped a grapefruit to make some coin . Awesome stuff . Not to mention the health risks , Just going from memory, the list of bodybuilders who have died prematurely since 1992, in addition to Durr and Youngblood, includes Momo Benaziza, Andreas Munzer, Curtis Leffler, Hans Hopstaken, Sonny Schmidt and Derrick Whitsett. Bodybuilders whose competitive careers were cut short by illness include Dennis Newman, Mike Francois, Don Long, Flex Wheeler, Tom Prince and Mike Matarazzo. The list of athletes that we know have experienced harum-scarum hospital visits with conditions in which their lives have been in danger includes Mike Matarazzo, Edgar Fletcher, Paul Dillett (twice), Milos Sarcev, Nasser El Sonbaty, Bob Cicherillo and Mustafa Mohammad (twice).

Not bad i suppose :pfft:

I do have an idea what it takes. The thing is with statements like your previous you portray somebody who would rather chuck it in than give it everything.

My point

In one breath your saying get into it and the next your saying don't! If some bugger had got to the stars in a "MARK 111 ZEPHER" then it's possible

Anyway back on subject, what ever that was :?

I went to a strong arm contest in wellington when Nassa came out one year , Justin came out and posed , hell he looked great , huge . Then they bought Nassa out next to him and it was like comparing apples with oranges . I guess my point is that those guys are so far ahead of everyone else why bother if you cant compete with them on there level . .

Interesting story, if you read a little more you might cross an interview with Nasser I read where after the 1991 NOC he was recommended to give up on Pro BB and go back to engineering as he'd never match up to the big stars either.

I'm surprised with that comment, The Gym is my Church. If you're with Gym junkie, then you clearly want to give up on competing in NZ and focussing on going to Aussie to compete. Sure, Aussie run very good shows, but what has been so bad with the several NZFBB events you and your partner have competed in over the past two years (apart from a class mixup at the Thames show)? I'd suggest all those shows have been well run (you helped to run one of them!) and the competitors had a positive and rewarding experience. Certainly, go to Aussie to compete AS WELL as doing our local shows - that's a great idea.

OK, someone applied to get her Pro card through the USA IFBB and got it accepted - good on her! If anyone thinks they are good enough, then go ahead and apply yourself - don't cheapen someone else's achievement or ambition. And what negative impact does the recent rule change have on 99% of the NZFBB members or competitors - NOTHING! The only issue I had with the change was the timing of it, but the motion was passed.

Almost every prospective competitor is only looking at attending a quality event which gives them a rewarding experience after all the hard work they have put it. OK, a few will have ambitions to eventually compete at World Champs level or turn Professional. I'd suggest some of you put your petty jealousies and nit-picking aside and consider the negative message you are sending anyone reading this site who has a view to competing here in NZ. And, as I have said a few times before - if you don't like the "politics", the judging or how event's are run, then why not help the few of us doing all the work and offer to be an Exec, Judge or Event Organiser!

Mastertel I have heard nothing but great things about you and the way you organise shows. Kudos to you and your helpers that organise them - the NZFBB are extremely lucky to have you. However, this is not nit picking nor are these petty jealousies. There are some great physiques that are coming out of this country, moreso none other than Jo Stewart and she said it so well, " Why go to University when I hadn't finished with high school yet?"

You write about negative messaging to anyone who is considering competing in New Zealand - its not negative - its being honest. Its being allowed to be pissed off and having an outlet for it. Its being able to pen what people feel need to be told, and it is also to make sure that this does not happen again.

Ask yourself why bodybuilding will never be taken seriously - and why it will never be apart of something bigger? (whatever that maybe). Ask yourself why we are starting to lose some fantastic physiques to Australian Federations - and why many may never compete again in NZ let alone compete for NZ.

Until we can answer this honestly and without prejudice - bodybuilding within NZ will continue to be seen as nothing more than a farce.

Yes well no surprise you agree with Ann as you two are joined at the hip :pfft:

I'm with you mastertel, to many negative people on this topic and in this sport. I am more than happy to support NZ BBing regardless of federation.

More power to Rachelle and good luck to her.

Hey Master Tel all good at this end mate!

Very passionate about supporting bod building here mate, however as you mentioned may well consider competing in Oz in the Natural Fed going forward and in NZ as with fellow Kiwis who have done so.

Man, we get a bit pent up on this site sometimes don't we, love the passion but wow, messages on forums can sometimes be mis read and the interpretation sometimes a little confusing. Time to go and enjoy the weekend :).

Im new to all this posting thing but i have been watching the forums for ages. i have been a watcher of bodybuilding from the benches along time and although would never think of getting up there myself I love what some of you guys and girls put yourselves through.

On this latest subject it seems to be messing the sport up a little but thats just from the outside.

It is interseting that the Major Sponsor of the Sacro Pro Figure Show Is Pro Fight Supps, correct me if im wrong, but is that not the supplement company owned by Moe M's Family, It does seem a little concidental that this latest rushed Rule change, the odd gaining of a pro card, and the major sponsor of the show this lady Rachelle is competing at all have a common link?

I may be miss informed so please correct me if i am wrong!

You are missing the whole point of the argument.

No one is being negative, we are simply stating that the rules were changed to help a competitor.

Obviously you are happy to support corruption within the NZFBB?
