We know Raechelle Chase has booked a spot in the lineup and probably be up against Karen Montague who qualified at CNI. Kristy Thomson qualified in Bodyfitness short in Wanganui. There were 3 in Christchurch but whether they will come up is unsure. We haven't seen Raechelle compete since the Thames comp last year so not sure what she'll be like but one thing's for sure Monty will have to rummage through her jewellery box if she wants to match Raechelle bling for bling! should be fun (and expensive) class to watch.

Aha - thanks for posting this - I read it yesterday, then forgot where I'd read it (been searching this forum for mentions of Raechelle to find the article - couldn't find it so thought I'd imagined the article!).

Well I'm not going to lay the blame on Raechelle, Moe and the committee made the desicion, not her, but she will be the one who will cop the wrath.

It's certainly put her in an awkward postion, a position that she should never have found herself in.

Once again the competitors suffer for the incompetence of bodybuilding officialdom.

There has been zero thought put into the concequences of this desicion but hopefully it will ensure that the current committee will get the arse at the next election.

I'm with Weener lad - shite timing, Master Tel - crap timing and big Mike D on this one; how was this implicated, why is there NO transparency and responsibility for who made the decision? - thought we were in the sport for the best interest of the sport, I did not realise we were in politics. C'mon team we live in a village and NO one is bigger than any sport, period.

Why can't we just front up as people and let all know why the decison was made, take it on the chin and get on with it instead of all of this assuming and non transparency - this stinks of a 'cover up' job - man, thank goodness I love our sport otherwise I would go do something else like tiddly winks, well there's always INBa or NABBA I suppose!?

One seems to think that voicing an opinion or point will be of NO use, to push a point forward a collective group may need to take more radical actions that actually have an affect on such a decision. Such a shame this stuff goes on as there are some BLOODY great people in our Fed that work very very hard for the love of the sport and ask for nicks in return. e.g. Master Tel!

Regards - Rod Bannister

I Have done a great job defending Raechelle? thanks but I don,t recall even mentioning her. and she should do the right thing? the right thing according to who? you? she has done everything by the rules of the NZFBB so I don't feel I need to defend her as she has done nothing wrong! your opinion about what she should or should have not done is of no significance what so ever. if you feel so strongly about it then maybe you should get yourself into a position where your opinion actually matters.

you wouldnt have mentioned her name would you, it would have seemed as underhanded as it now appears, I agree with gmm, previously I admired Rachelle and her achievements, this now puts me off completely, including the credibility of the NZFBB, looking at the pics on go figure, I think Monty looks amazing and I really hope she wins, she at least deserves to be there

Last year I had the displeasue of sitting in the crowd in front of Chris Chase and listening to his ignorant comments about other competitors, at least now he has let us all see what a charming chappie he is, good luck in America the Chases

... she has done everything by the rules of the NZFBB ...

Of course, but the rules were made to suit her.

If this whole rule change business is truly for her there is a very easy way for her to avoid damage to her rep, and that is to compete in the event that she qualified for. Edit: Oh wait! Too late for that now!

Best of luck to all who are competing tonight, should be awesome. 8)

Edit: God, I'm not with it, pre-judging's already over.

A true sportsman would qualify in there chosen class regardless of the rules, especially given there were many chances to do so.

SPORTSMANSHIP

Lets all just hope this doesn't tarnish the NZFBB and it's members (thats all of us, we all run the federation) too much.

step 1: a new rule gets made without any input from Raechelle or myself

step 2: everyone blames Raechelle for the new rule

step 3: Raechelle follows the rules

step 4: Raechelle gets punished at nationals by judges who don't like the rule, some stooping as low as to place her third.

Step 5: you all think this is wonderfull

Have I missed anything? or are you all really that petty?

Really bro i think you should let this go , it has gone on long enough and its an argument i dont think your going to win . I think it is admirable that you stick up for your lady , all men should . But at the end of the day its quite simple if you qualify for a class you should compete in that class. And i think thats what the argument is all about .Unfortunately our sport is very political and officals will do what they do and cometitors do what they do and it is not always for the betterment of the sport . To many people are just about themselfs and thats not the way for bodybuilding to move forward .

Hi chris

If this was the information you were told you have been lied to, too create even more drama.

I say you have been lied to because the score cards after the pre judging are securely locked in the chairman of judges breifcase and would be a serious breach of protocol if they were to be shown to members of the public or federation such as yourself.

Score cards can be requested but will have the judges names removed. this can be done through the chairman of judges brian mcfarlane

I did eventually judge this class although i did say that i wouldnt, i did make this decision about 5 min before the show started after being asked to reconsider by the chairman of judges, the President and the past president.

I judged fairly and as i made the decision to judge, i am always avalible to give feed back to the athletes regardless of the situation.

Regards

Mike Debenham.

Whatever Chris  maybe you need to read what your wife was posting on her website before this story even broke. I agree with Hawks it’s time you let this go.

Mike, is it right that the committee met today? If it did was this discussed and is the exec even aware of the general opposition to rule change that caused this?

IMO this is a nonsense rule and needs to be put right to get some integrity back in the sport we all love, particularly as it gets enough bad PR at the best of times without this kind of shit.

P.S. Big congrats to everybody in last nights show particularly all those who won. It looked like a good show.
