NZFBB RULE CHANGE!!!!!!

bigmd

Recommended Posts

Isn't the NZFBB an incorporated society? Owned by the members, how can the members find out what is going on if its a secret.

IF a member of the committee makes a proposal the truely believe in, then it they should stand up to the scrutiny of members.

Perhaps the motion should be cut, pasted and posted on the NZFBB website instead of this one, however it should be public.

I agree, Mike - I think you misunderstood my post. I can't divulge that info on THIS site (i.e. http://www.nzbodybuilding.co.nz) - and the motion (worded exactly as raised) IS on the nzfbb website homepage ... I put it there myself under instruction from the President last week. I wasn't happy with the wording (e.g. referring to "body shaping" when it is "Body Fitness") but I was asked to post it exactly as worded.

Vice-President: Terry Hills

Judges Chairman: Brian McFarlane

Secretary: Johanna Moses

Treasurer: Miwah Van

Executive Directors: Willie Walker, Simon Von-Sasson, Bronwyn Inglis & Rachael Desmond

Just a general note for everyone's education - the Secretary and Treasurer don't having voting rights ... only the President, Vice-President and Executive Directors (one vote each). The President also has a casting vote in the event of a tie.

Can non-members email them and tell them what we think?

I'll try and be polite.

I don't see why not, Outlaw - and I hope you don't strain anything trying to be polite! :pfft:

Best that I don't email them, I'd definitelty strain something!!

I can't see Moe changing his mind.

Mike is right, the issue here is not one of changing classes (for whatever reason) it is changing classes and not doing so by re-qualifying for that class change. What has happened here is an individual has approached the NZFBB Committee and has been successful in getting a rule change to allow her to compete in ‘Body Fitness’ instead of the Figure class she has successfully qualified in. There was nothing stopping her from fronting up at another regional comp and re-qualifying. Instead she couldn’t be bothered, and sought a rule change through the backdoor.

I note there have been a few ladies who have successfully qualified for both Figure and Body Fitness. Karen Montague did so last weekend. She didn’t have too, but being the true competitor that she is she stepped up, did the right thing and needs to be commended. Well done Monty!

If the competitor concerned does front up at the Nationals and competes in Body Fitness without qualifying, this is a big slap in the face, not to mention disrespectful to fellow competitors who have qualified though the correct means. The attitude of this competitor brings poor sportsmanship to a new low.

I wasn’t going to waste my time with this but never have I ever heard so much rubbish in my life! A new rule has been past. Big deal this happens all the time and it was put forward and passed by the proper channels. The majority of committee members thought the rule change was a good Idea and I happen to agree! I’ve not heard one good reason so far as to why this rule is bad or unfair.

Mike do you not trust the committee to make good decisions? Do you think they are corrupt or incompetent? How can you be trusted to be a fair and unbiased judge if you refuse to follow the rules?

This new rule effects every figure competitor who has qualified this year not just one person. Every (NZ figure) competitor who has qualified for figure this year could have easily qualified for International figure (body fitness); hell I could have put on a bikini and qualified myself (not a pretty image) because there has not been more that 2 competitors in any regional show. Many girls who would have done International figure (Body fitness) opted for NZ Figure instead so that they would have some competition. I have been around a long time in both NZFBB and NABBA and this rule is nothing new there have been times when due to a lack of competitors in a class that the organization wanted to see promoted they have dropped the need to qualify at all!

I don’t know the reason or reasons for this new rule but I will tell you why I think it is good for both the competitors and New Zealand body building as a whole.

Not everyone knows this but the rules for NZ figure do not apply outside of New Zealand and Australia. The New Zealand Body Fitness Class is judged by the same rules as International Figure. There are a number of girls competing this year that could possibly do well internationally i.e. competing by International figure (Body fitness) rules so would it not be a good idea to give those girls a chance to do just that?! Or should we make them stand on stage by themselves first like a competitor at last week’s contest and then just for a laugh make them do poses that don’t even apply to International figure. Just to satisfy your sense of fairness, this is not good for the competitors or bodybuilding.

These girls have shown they are of caliber so why make them jump through hoops for the sake of it? NZ women’s bodybuilding is a mess. The world doesn’t begin in Cape Reanga and end in Invercargill! We have a figure class with no international equivalent. An International figure class that goes by the same judging criteria as the worlds, all pro figure contests and the Olympia but no one wants to compete in it because no one knows this (I’m talking about body fitness) and absolutely no way for girls to aspire to the International Fitness class.

When a rule gets made to start to try and fix this no one even bothers to ask why such a rule might be passed but instead assume the worst of the committee members who are not only much better informed than us, but where appointed to make decisions that benefit the athletes and the sport in the first place!! And what better time to make such a change than right before the only event of the year where there will be enough competitors of high enough caliber to make for a worthwhile and competitive INTERNATIONAL FIGURE CLASS!!!

What a load of crap!

I’ve not heard one good reason so far as to why this rule is bad or unfair.

Did you bother to read this thread?

Did you not bother to ask why?

Because everyone else had to do it, why should someone get a free go?

This is the most laughable part of all. We are all asking why this rule was passed, the only one who didn't ask appears to be you and the rest of the commitee.

It sounds like one man is making the decisions and the rest of you are just nodding your heads in agreement.

Thanks for that Out Law but I'm not part of the committee and yes i have read the tread that's why I said I haven't heard 1 "good" reason if you think the fact that a competitor who has qualified in a more competitive class now has the choice of competing in a class that they can take their career further with is a "good reason" why this rule should not have passed then I would have to disagree with you. I would agree that it would be an unfair advantage against the people who have qualified in regional events if qualification was any more difficult than simply turning up. and I'm not the only one who's not unhappy about this rule change I just seem to be the only one on this tread who has actually thought it through.

Sakura. As I said I'm not on the committee I can only guess that the rule was passed now because they would like to see more girls do International Figure this year and possibly as an effort to further our athletes overseas either way this is a positive change and it's about time the federation started to think globally instead of trying to hold the competitors back. You should not have to win the Nationals 4 or 5 times to compete overseas!

My apologises for mistaking you for one of the committee Chase, but if you can't see this as a corrupt decision to make sure a competitor gets looked after then I would be disappointed.

Blind Freddy can see that someone high-up is bending the rules to help a friend.

It's typical of bodybuilding in general, no other sport in the world changes the rules mid-season.

No wonder bodybuilding lacks credibility.

Yeah, except I left the bit out where you insinuated that someone must have given someone some mighty good head to get the rule changed!

With 2 qualifiers left in the season, the first of which only had 1 body fitness competitor. how much could this really help any one individual other than maybe saving them a trip to hamilton or whanganui? and I believe that what ever the reasons it is a good direction for NZ bodybuilding. we are holding the 2011 World Champs and it would make alot of sense to promote rules that will allow us to field a strong team in that event. and as for the committee being corrupt or not I didn't vote so I personally don't believe I have any right to complain

Can you not understand how everyone is suspicious of the timing?

To announce it 3 weeks before the show makes it sound corrupt to me and everyone else posting here.

2011 is 2yrs away, it could easily have been implemented straight after the Nationals and no one would've cared less.

The fact the committee thinks that they can just bend the rules whenever they see fit means that every little thing they do in the future will be scrutinised.

People power says that it should be changed back with an apology.

Personally i dont know how any in there right mind could agree with this rule , its a bit like qualifing for the olympics in the shotput then getting there and deciding to go for the rythmic gymnastics option , ya wouldnt do it would ya , christ how clear can it be . Bottom line if you qualify for a class thats the class you compete in . It is obvious whats going on here and it doesnt take a rocket scientist to work it out . Its a real shame we dont have some honest , and honourable people running federations.Outlaw is correct there is some one performing fellatio to the right people here .Happy sucking.

I don't have the answers for you. But I can believe that a figure competitor would opt to go out of their way to make a new rule that would allow anyone who had qualified in figure to compete against them making the Body Fitness Class potentially much harder to win rather than just qualify. that just doesn't make any sense to me.

When I was on the Auckland committee I to had ask that the NZFBB should be following the USA NPC and the International IFBB classes but was told that the girls would find hard to pay for a two piece and a one piece costume . Also in this class the girls don’t do a routine which is good as they are to look glamorous. But to change the rules this far out from the nats is not a good idea and that it would of been better to have it come in at the start of the new year.

My wife did this class in the USA and loved it and she would love to see it happen here in NZ

Hmmm just a question do you know someone personally that wants to do this .??? The whole thing just doesnt make any sense , You compete at a regional show in a class that you want to qualify for the nationals for , thats it simple otherwise there is no point in qualifying at all , shit lets just drag people of the streets and chuck them in physique.

There have been years when that might not have been such a bad idea LOL.

Seriously though I agree with you. normally you should qualify in the class that you want to compete in at nats. the committee obviously wants more International figure competitors at nats and that's why they want to allow a switch. hell it's not like these girls haven't worked just as hard if not harder to qualify in figure. I hope that lots of girls take the opportunity and switch. any way enough from me I'm not on the committee so I'm not going to defend them all night but I'm all for the rule

The committee fucked up. Period.

No incorporated society (with the exception of NZFBB it seems) would get away with such an obvious rort. Good on the likes of MD, MT and other officials that have voiced their objection to this piss poor call by the majority of the Exec.

Love to hear any justification from someone who voted for this??

V_ST_D _NT_R_ST - wanna buy a vowel Chris?!

This move would make sense if the federation was to change codes of sorts to NPC as early as next year ... hmmm.

I like how Chris has explained his reasoning although I guess I'm also one of the cyniques that has seen similar things happen as a result of politicing etc over the years.

Someone called a favour ... has happened a lot over the years. No sure why we are all surprised or upset.

nothing new.
