No disrespect to the man but, looking at the pic on stuff he doesnt look like hes going to be a real threat? prove me wrong?

Probably not, at his height he would need to stack some serious mass on to look massive on stage.

But thats really irrelevant, he's off to France for more footy and is just doing it as he's always wanted to have a go. The drawcard is that he is JONAH, not that he's the next Ronnie Coleman!

Will be waiting to see how well Joe's got Jonah looking though, but not expecting an Overall Mens physique title contender. (Hopefully people take it for what it is & don't resort to tall poppy syndrome crap we so often see in NZL & in perhaps even more so in BBing).

Will he do the 'Mike Katt' special on Monstermuscle?!

Well said, Nate. Hopefully people will appreciate why he is doing this event - and it's certainly not to prove he is a top bodybuilder.

Actually NZMM was in my shop today and telling me everyone has felt sorry that he is up against Jonah and having no chance to beat the big fella. The reality is it is the other way round - not that NZMM was giving any hints of how he is looking, but I'd put money on him beating Jonah this weekend.

The pictures on stuff.co.nz and in the Dominion Post were taken last night at Jonah's training session, so it's very much up to date. Not that it did him justice and I'm sure he will look pretty good on the day.

Hopefully he does qualify for Nationals and make it back in time from Copenhagen to do this event in Auckland. It's a huge boost for bodybuilding here to have him compete, and while you (Nate) may feel we have left it late to promote this (but hopefully my earlier post explains why) there is plenty of opportunity to get mileage from this well after the event. And it's not that I needed this publicity to sell tickets - the event was likely to sell out regardless of whether Jonah was competing or not.

Jonah is great! much respect for the man on many a level. I wish him all the best in what ever he wishes to acheive 100%.

I think we all owe him our full support after watching him run-over, through and around all top international teams on behalf of NZ and being ever so humble about it. Go hard bro!!

The Powerhouse boys seem to think there is an interview on TV1 tonight.

Quite a good spot on him tonight. He's got some decent arms but still looking a bit heavy overall. Sounds like hes going to be around 120kg so should still look pretty big. Be interesting to see the pics come Sunday. Make sure you guys going get some good close-up shots.

Not trying to hate on the guy or anything, but did he even diet for the show? :-s

Read the earlier posts, its due to his medical condition.. I dont think it was ever about him challenging for any titles. Good on him

good on him is right

I saw him on TV and think he looked great, especially as this isn't his main sport. Last year I found it hard keeping up back country skiing while dieting for the shows, so I take my hat off to him for managing to train for rugby and bodybuilding at once.

Well done Jonah - you did yourself proud. It takes a shitload of hard work and mental stamia to get up on stage and you handled it like the champ everyone knows you are.

Once again a great show put on by terry. and a fun weekend had by all.

I have had the pleaseure of meeting Jonah a number of times, i have had a number of pics taken with him (a couple of us posing last night back stage) and one of the highlights of my years traveling around NZ judging and posing... was being asked for an Autograph on a poster by Jonah.  i felt very honoured to be asked

He has a great trainer behind him in Joe. So Jonah, just the average guy for a day trying a new sport where he knows he may never be the best and enjoying himself while giving some inspiration to others and his son, why would you want to bag that?? :? :?

Jonah if you read this well done and i hope one day to have a throw round with some weights when you are in ChCh next.

PS let me where to send the poster lol :pfft:

Well done to all the other athelets with some real stand outs and some good new blood coming through
