Thanks. True my doc did tell me back to full training in 6 weeks and i will take his advise. The doc maybe doing the op but he hasnt felt what it is like himself. I felt the best people 2 know would be some with similar experiance. Since im only the first female to have this done as far as we know in nz. I thought breast implants would be as close as im going to get for recovery knowledge. Ok im a little freaked by the photographing of it i guess but im not going to back out now its a dream come true. Body building gave me the gust to go for it.

Thanks- So far what has happened. The doc made a plaster mould of the indent in my chest. (It took 4 weeks to dry by the fire). Than he packed it up and sent it to USA. He said they detach the muscle from the bone and put the implant under them. He thought about using my lat muscles but than i wouldnt be able to do bodybuilding and this goes against improving the quality of life. I might put some pictures up when it happens. I feel like a kid on xmas eve !

thanks guys. As i understand it- parts of it will be under the muscle. And i will be doing exactly what im told by doc. Im just planning so i can get back into competeing next year. My roomy is a doc of alternative medicines, she works mostly in acupunchure. She want let me do anything to stressful. Im just trying to work out what i can do to keep from going insane from not training. So far i have had suggestions from deep tissure massage to light yoga and meditation. My training buddy says i have to come and kick his ares and boss him around till im fit. He cheats like hell when im not there and as i write the programs for us both i could have fun

Crikey!! That pic is from 3 years ago when I won best dressed at the game. They seem to use the pic over and over. Last year it was front page of the Dominion all week building up to the weekend, then on the front of the Sevens programme. I think I need to call my lawyer.

Just found out on friday the implant has finally arrived from the USA and im off to a fitting on 25 nov. Doc says they make a cut along my bikini strap line from side to side. loosen the skin, lift any muscels in the way up. Slide implant in attach to ribs each side and sternum and then reattach the muscel over top of implant. Just like that. So its going in the sternum area under the pec's if they in the way and also into my ab area abit as well. The waiting is dam near killing me. Heres Hoping its this side of xmas. Im going to compete again as soon as all this is over with. :)

Best of luck Justy! Sounds like a good time of year to get them.... no comps for a while so you can make sure you are well & truly recovered from the op. Remember all the advice thats been posted and take it easy for a while.

hi all.

There are many methods available and each surgeon will have their own routine and preferences. Generally, however, the immediate recovery period is only about 2-3 days for most patients before you return to your daily activities and have minimal need for pain medication. There are pain pumps available that use local anaesthetic, some surgeons inject local anaesthetic into the surgical site, some use anti-inflammatory medications and/or muscle relaxers as well as the usual narcotic pain medication. The two most important factors, however, are choosing the correct implant size and meticulous dissection at the time of surgery. The bigger the implant, the more discomfort you will have due to increased stretching of your tissues. During surgery the less the tissues are traumatized and the less bleeding there is, the better your postop pain level will be. Going under the muscle has somewhat more discomfort but not a significant difference that I have noticed. Moms who have been through childbirth and breast engorgement tend to recover faster than patients who have not had children yet. Overall, the pain level is very well managed and lasts for only a short period of time. Pain levels are very subjective and each patient is different and needs different methods of pain control that works best for them - so review your pain tolerance with your surgeon and choose from the different techniques available that suits you best. The most important factor is your breast implant size compared to your body type and tissue characteristics.
