how to count fat grams

i am looking for some feedback on how individuals count the fat quantity in their diets.

i have done some searching and there seems to be a bit of overlap from different people and ideas they have.....this may have been better as a poll cause i suspect differing opinions here also.

at the moment a big part of my diet is red meat (beef) and lets say this is approx 10% fat and i am eating 800gm a day (4 meals) then i am getting 80gms of fat just from the meat. i eat a few eggs (6-12), about 1/3 with yolk, and also some peanut butter with a meal in the evening. this will bring my fat intake to just over 0.5g/lb, carbs 1.5-2g/lb, protein 1.5-2g/lb as an average.

please i am not wanting to debate the volume of meat.....i do mix in salmon regularly and some chicken, i just want to know about counting the fat especially on red meat days. i am careful to remove all visible fat

i am reasonably happy with my diet and progress but just want to check peoples opinion on the fat counting thing. i can modify the macros to bulk or cut, and seek to ensure i am getting the most from my weight training.

generally it appears that a lot of bodybuilder diets only count the protein from the meat source if it is lean....they dont worry to much about the fat, but count the fat from other sources such as nuts, avocado etc.

but in some diets they say that of the total fat intake it is important to limit saturated fat intake so to me i should be counting this beef fat intake.

i am currently adding in some other fat sources and will see what happens......but look forward to hearing others view

The only advice I've heard is to trim the visible fat to the extent possible...and then not to sweat the rest. Fat's not the enemy that carbs are - although there are more calories per gram in fat, the amount you'd have left on e.g. 1 kg of rump after trimming wouldn't amount to much.
