Is pumpkin a carb? Is it ok to eat for dinner? Or should I be eating it during the day when i am on the go?

Pumpkin is 88% carb, 3% fat and 9% protein. Yes it's a carb source, nothing wrong with eating it for dinner but if your trying to lose weight it's better to eat the bulk of your carbs earlier in the day :wink:

When I was dieting for a comp (an embarrassingly long time ago now!) my nutritionist told me I could eat as much pumpkin as I liked. I assumed that was because most of its weight is in water, so the carbs-per-serve was relatively low. Can anyone confirm this?

It's not saying it's 88% carbs, it's saying 88% of the calories in pumpkin comes from carbs - it is still really low in carbs (2%), it just has waaaaay less protein and fat. The nutritional target map is interesting - pumpkin is right up the top, and it says foods near the top are more likely to fill you up with fewer calories \:D/

From the above posts it seems pumpkin is mostly made up of water. The actual pumpkin material itself is 88% carbs. Due to the fact it's mostly water the quantity of carbs your eating is very low.

This - "It's not saying it's 88% carbs, it's saying 88% of the calories in pumpkin comes from carbs" - doesn't make sense :?
