Sources of slow releasing protein?

Draft

Recommended Posts

Okay, I'm about to go to bed and a just gagged down 100gm of cottage cheese and 2 egg whites - an I don't enough know if protein from egg whites is slow releasing.

Anyone know of some good sources of slow-releasing protein or should I just go invest in some casein powder?

What you need is a product that contains micellar casein, whey protein concentrate, isolate & egg white protein. Caseins are particularly good at slowing down the absorbtion process in the intestine. There are not many products in NZ that suit that I know of. They are widely used in the UK & Europe. CNP put out some good slow release stuff. Anyone that knows of a good product with slow release proteins please chime in. I'm even thinking of making something up myself.

In case it's of interest, Gymeez has Metaphysics LeanShot, which has

A serving of LeanShot provides 20grams of high quality Whey Protein Concentrate and Calcium Caseinate, the ideal blend to supply your muscles with both instant and sustained delivery of essential nutrients.

I'm thinking of gettin some of that ON Casein protein powder too. But i'm wondering where you can buy pure micellar casein powder from?

Dymatize elite 12 hour lists whey protein concentrate as the main ingredient :-s .

So i figured i'll mix a scoop of the ON Casein with a scoop of my normal whey concentrate/isolate + some fat before bed will be just as good?

Yup, but have fats like almonds/nuts

I find it mixes better with WPI/C as well because casein protein is hydrophobic and sorta goes gluggy

Is THAT why... the Metaphysics Lean Burn goes kinda "thick-shakey" - it's nice and creamy, but does need more water than the Elite 12-hour or other brands I've tried.

Thanks Becbec, I learnt something new today!
