hey guys I've been a member here a few months i think, and still have no matches on the 'spotter search'. Is it just me? I am very flexible about when I train and I belong to the health and sports gym in kingsland. for anyone who's interested their website is http://www.healthandsports.co.nz. is anyone interested? i have pretty normal training goals - gain muscle lose fat. Regardless of whether or not I get any responses to this, I think other people looking for training partners should add to this thread ...maybe we might be able to get a few more matches....training without a spotter sux.

nice theory - sounds simple. But everyone's pretty focussed on their own thing, or training with other people...I'd prefer a regular training partner

Agree with you there it doesnt work most of the time, I have a training partner and it is much better than training alone though we lift different weight there is always a bit of competition too.

I agree, sometimes a spotter is good and sometimes a spotter isn't.

You have to look for qualitys in a spotter, because you never really think about it but your sub concious knows.

You can't ask some random person in the gym to walk around the equipment with you spotting you because they have their own workouts and usually it is awkward if you just met them, you can ask somebody for help on maybe a few sets of benchpresses but thats about it.

Other times you can ask a mate to spot you but that usually means it will consist of constant chatter or omg look at teh MILF!@!!!!one!!1, you need to find a mate that's similar in strength so you aren't always swapping weights over and you need to find somebody that has the same motivation as you so they will force not only themselves to do the extra sets but also help you.

how about just have a forum subject dedicated to people putting up notices for gym partners - including the information u suggested (as in the 'spotter search' but something we can all browse through and make contact that way

it might just be my experience but I got the impression I was the only one on the database!

Well i mean...have a think about it......whatever gym you go to what there is probably 500 memberships at anyone time and at peak hour probably 30 - 40 people in the gym......one website with people looking for spot partners........that go to your gym.....no highly likely, just ask people at the gym to be your spot buddy.

I think this would be the best way.

That's why the SpotterSearch database works by suburb and postcode, not gym.

The more suburbs you select, the wider your net is cast, so you increase the chance of finding someone. Initially we had people only selecting one suburb, so I reworded a few of the instructions, and I think that's been solved now.

I havent had a training partner all year and it is very difficult to lift to the maxium intensity, not just to assist on exercises but sometimes i need perking up if i am feeling down on energy. The problem with getting workout partners is

1: Goals are different

2: Some people are pussies and cant handle workout out semi hard

3: Unreliable partners

4: Makeing both peoples schedules fit
