I did not know that casien cab cause upset tummies

just for you cobber

"Casein is one of the proteins found in milk and while one can be intolerant to casein, it is casein allergies that we hear about most. Casein allergies are more serious than lactose intolerances, and symptoms can be far more invasive than those of lactose intolerance. Symptoms can include eczema, hives, gastrointestinal symptoms similar to those of lactose intolerance, and asthma. Those that have an intolerance or allergy to casein are also at risk for anaphylactic reactions where the immune system floods the body with chemicals and the body can go into shock."

I renewed my subscription to Men's Health magazine so that I can be assured another 12 months of awesomeness

Yus, I did  I've also read that gluten and casein are very similar. If you're intolerant to one, you may be intolerant to both. Something to do with opioid-like peptides. Incomplete digestion of opioid-like peptides is apparently very normal. But a sensitivity may be related to the body's natural endorphin levels.

Opioid-like peptides act on endorphin receptors throughout the body and can cause problems such as aches and pains, headaches, lowered pain threshold, digestive problems, nausea, abnormal hunger, motivational problems, mental/behavioural problems, brain fog, irritability, weight problems, cravings, and histamine release.

There are two different types of casein, A1 beta-casein and A2 beta-casein. Most farmed cows (holstein and friesian) produce milk with A1 beta-casein. A2 beta-casein does not cause the same opioid-like reaction as A1 beta-casein. A2 milk is produced by goats and sheeps.

Most sensitive people don't have to cut out all gluten and casein. Cos it's not an allergy, they can tolerate limited quantities.

But wait, there's more! Just in case that wasn't interesting enough  I bring spinach into the fold! Apparently it also contains opioid-like peptides in the form of rubiscolin. People who're sensitive to the opioid-like peptides in gluten and casein can also be sensitive to spinach in the same way.

So ummm yeah. Course, none of this is backed by any science or studies, it's just some whack made up shit 8)

Maybe just try unflavoured isolate? (Worked for me  ) Soy protein powder is fucken fowl shit man, mixes like quicksand and may also present allergen problems (IMO only of course 8) ). LOL, I tried making soy protein powder pancakes to a) test making some protein pancakes and b) get rid of the shit soy powder. I ended up spending ages trying to flush the mix down the sink, it just wouldn't go down the plughole  Shoulda just poured the crap into the loo :pfft:
