Mariusz Pudzianowski - who has won the World’s Strongest Man competition a record five times - is apparently set to make his MMA debut.

The world-famous Polish strongman has been booked to fight on a December 12th KSW fight show in Poland, according to Polish media reports.

A life-long fan of the martial arts, Pudzianowski has always complemented his strength training with martial arts practice.

He was a keen amateur boxer in his youth and also holds a green belt in Kyukoshin Karate, the kickboxing-influenced striking style that can often be seen in K-1. Green belt is two grades below black belt.

Other names with a Kyukoshin background include UFC welterweight champion Georges St. Pierre and Dutch legend Bas Rutten.

K-1 fighters with a Kyukoshin background include Semmy Schilt, Andy Hug, Francisco Filho and Glaube Feitosa.

I'd hate to be his first opponent :?

I can picture him getting KO'd or submitted in japan's Dream or in the UFC, dont know about this polish organisation though he might have a chance agaisnt some newb

Agreed, unless he has excellent wrestling or BJJ skills he'd get beaten by a UFC fighter. UFC is drug tested also, not making assumptions, just saying.

Still always cool to watch a huge new guy (like Lesnar, Lashley) as you never know.

him and kimbo should go hammer and tong, my money would be on kimbo

 Seriously? Did you see Kimbo v Houston Alexander on the TUF Season 10 Final card? Kimbo's knees can't take that sort of punishment, he has arthritis in 'em. Not only that, the Alexander fight - both guys are amazingly explosive fighters so it was expected to be an all out brawl, and be over in the first round - was boring. Kimbo only waded in once every now and again when he could avoid Houston's leg kicks, and whilst he did look good at times (especially with his improved ground game), he was shaky, and he's getting old.

On the evidence of the above video, Pudz would quite easily dismantle Kimbo. And I'm a fan of Kimbo's too :)

lol even tho kimbo is nothing special, i'll still bet my money on kimbo to beat pudz, some cortisone shots can manage his arthritis easy. And now that kimbo is training in one of the best mma camps (american top team) he can only improve. tht tuf10 finaly fight was very unexpected, but so was that massive slam that kimbo did.

the way that pudz drops his hands when he kicks would be an easy counter K.O for kimbo.

Kimbo stated on TUF 10 he doesn't want Cortisone, he's going to manage it "naturally".

I reckon that all it would take is for one of Pudz' kicks to hit the knee and it's game over. The knee is the reason Kimbo didn't want to take Mitrione's place on the TUF10 semis - which is where he said he didn't want Cortisone (when Dana White said they could give it to him to get him through the fight). I think you'll also see in fights Kimbo will be in from now that it's something his opponents are going to keep going for - and I'll be interested to see how he handles this as he didn't have too much of an answer when Alexander was doing it.

Again, I'm a Kimbo fan and I support him when he fights, but on the evidence of those leg kicks alone I think Pudz would win hands down

It seems more than one elite Strongman hsa swapped sports recently:

Arild Haugen is crazy strong, will be interesting to see how he goes with the gloves?

Nate

PS - Pudz had a great start in MMA, time will tell how he goes there. He had a background in martial arts and boxing prior to Strongman I believe - a bit hard to translate polish on his website tho!

I'm curious to see how he goes in MMA, you'd think a big part of that strength must translate to fighting.

I still have no idea how he'd go since the guy he fought was a boxer who'd never fought MMA before, even the calibre of fighters he's faced when boxing look awful - http://boxrec.com/list_bouts.php?human_ ... &cat=boxer

I look forward to seeing how he fares against a real MMA fighter, he may do well, hopefully he's been working on his ground game since I don't see any history of wrestling or BJJ training in his background. Time will tell.
