Lazy work

Peachy

Recommended Posts

Ok so I have just started a new job and it turns out the people in my office are the most lazy overweight bunch of people (mainly women) I have ever met!! There seems to be a "special occasion" nearly every day that needs a shared morning tea

The worst part about it though is listening to all the women complaining one day about being overweight, then the next day starting a 2 week "detox diet" then the next day scoffing McDonalds.

Sorry I just really needed to have a whinge. Fell better now :D

Whats every one elses work place like?

We don't have as many morning teas as we used to - the recession has some good points! But we used to have them all the time - there was always someone leaving work, starting work, visitors from overseas, all day training that seemed to always include morning tea and lunch....So when I keep banging on about how I've lost 6kg this year, it's more a case that I put on about that when I started my job 3 years ago, and have finally now got back to normal.

I for one am really pleased there aren't so many morning teas now, as I really do love my food, and find that sort of temptation very difficult (hence the 6kg!) - I blame it on 8 years of being a traveller bum and another 8 years of being a student bum - making meagre funds go as far as possible means that free food (no matter what it is) has always been a huge temptation, and so the lack of morning teas at work has really helped me with eating clean. Then last time we had one, I walked straight over to my bag and got a baby tin of tuna and ate that instead of the free food. I'm definitely improving my habits!

My colleagues are nice though, and don't tend to moan about their weight while munching on crap (generally!).

It's not just a 'ladies' room' thing.... it's just as bad for guys...but my wife says her workplace is horrid for it...everyone's detoxing, or on JC's or WWs or whatever - and then back into the jumbo muffins, $2 box and all the rest!

It takes discipline, and a rhinoceros hide, to stick to a diet, especially in the face of people who willfully don't get the message that you're looking after yourself and you don't need 'bonus carbs' every morning tea!

Well done to Chilli for ripping into her tuna \:D/

My workplace is pretty cool. We don't have morning teas at all. Also, around the lunch table people tend to ask for my advice or seem really fascinated in what I'm doing. Some are pretty shoddy about their health (toasted sammies every day) while others are very healthy.

No one ever tries to guilt you into having something sweet.

The place I used to work at before I started my current job was full of lazy overweight females. A few especially stood out as they would always eat SUCH crap, maccas or BK every lunch, chips and lollies for morning tea, huge starbux frapacinos for arvo tea, always sipping coke etc etc. I don't know how they functioned on that shit. And they were always complaining about their weight and start a detox which would last a day max.

The place I am working in now has very few overweight people, and lots of sporty people. We still have morning tea every Friday but I tend to leave the office around that time and get some fresh air and eat my cottage cheese & apple!

My workmates are the bomb, we work as a small group of 5 and they make sure every 3 hours we are back in the office to feed me hahaha.....one is now ding BFL, another is the protein shake king :). Only one eats crap but he is a big runner so carrys no extra weight.

When there's a shout at work they sometimes get me a small salad or something healthy. When the boss shouts chocolates etc for the rest of the guys I get a protein bar.

But they still sit around having savouries and cake at times - while I have my bowl of chicken and kumara.

Wow, that's cool that they do that for you!

I get sick to death of paople and their pickiness with food, so I just shut up, eat what I can, or bring my own. We've always got someone with a food choice that means that they can't eat what's on offer (couple of veges, vegan, the worst was a self-diagnosed gluten allergy who completely ruined everyone's choice for Xmas do last year because she just didn't like Chinese food and didn't believe that there would be a single item on the menu that she could eat  so instead we went for second choice, a picnic, it pissed down with rain, so we had it in our boardroom. All thanks to someone and her picky eating!)

Xmas do's at work are dangerous. Everyone we've had most people get very messy, good fun, but messy.

I'm the food police at work and anyone who eats bad gets a bit of good humoured free advice. I get it in reverse of course, but funnily enough the food that comes into the building has changed a bit. All for the good.

They've seen what a healthy diet can do this "fine figure of a man".

There is food police at my work. But the opposite kind. Seems the overweight women with the unhealthy diets take offense to someone who trys to take care of there body.... *sigh*

Screw them and their type 2 diabetes and heart disease! They are the type of people who are just super envious of your determination and want to sabotage you because of their own lack of willpower.

YES, I Completely agree!

Everyone at my work is pretty good, the problem is with my friends. My family at least respect my choice to eat healthily, but my mates seem threatened by my healthy choices. I don't mock their ridiculously bad carb-addictions, yet they think its okay to mock my salad/protein obbsession.

Its particually bad when you go away with them on holiday and try to plan "meals" together, or go stay with them and have to eat their cooking to avoid looking like an ungrateful biatch..... arggh, never again. Carbicide aint my thing. :?

Was it Rose a couple of weeks ago who said something along the lines of 'I bet you wouldn't comment about what I'm eating if I was overweight' (something like that!).

People seem to think it's fine to vocalise about how much they disapprove of what you're eating when it's healthy, but we're all far to PC to dare vocalise what we think about what Tubby McTubbster is gorging on.

Go figure!

I guess it makes them feel better about their crappy lifestyle habits. We live in an ego-centered world.....

I'm pretty sure my friends resent me as I used to be huge and now they always make comments like "your as bad as a reformed smoker" and "you never used to be so anal ya know". I have to stop myself replying "...yeah, and look where that got me. Perhaps you should take a note outta my book." ...But i don't, i just eat my tuna and pity them.

Sometimes it's just best to bite your tongue - like last week when my very overweight family member told me I look better with a bit of weight on me, and I DIDN'T tell her that she looked better 15 years ago when she wasn't so lardy

:pfft: Good on you for restraining.... I'm sure she already knows that herself deep down anyway.

Yeah, she does, and she's always going on about it (while knocking back another bottle of wine and eating more crap!)

Hmmm that scenario sounds alllllllllll too familar.

Those kind are even more irritating than the ones in complete denial, who consume bags of lollies, multiple takeaways and litres of alcohol daily without any acknowledgement that they are slowly killing themselves.

Why can't people realize the simpleeeeeeee fact that health is all about choice. Or at least just keep their stupidity to themselves.

Okay, end rant.

Oh my friends are bad too!!! I think they want too fatten me up so they don't feel as bad about themselves?? But they make me feel like I'm too vain or something for eating healthy and working out and that its a bad thing to want to look good. Apparantly your allowed to wear makeup to look good but not avoid carbs to look good...

Embrace the vanity! I reckon there's nothing wrong with caring about how you look, whether it be facially or bodily or whateverly. If it's good for your health and it also makes you feel good, then it's all good.

Seriously, I feel like I positively sashay like a model when I walk now, I feel so much better about how I look since losing weight and getting a bit more muscled up! And when I feel that good, no saboteurs can get me down!
