Boys Day Out 2009 Strongman Exhibition - Christchurch

Boys Day Out 2009 Strongman Exhibition

Event Date Saturday, 5th September 2009, weigh-in at 11am

Weight Classes: Under 90kg

90-105kg

Over 105kg

Event 1: Log Press – 12pm

•Log Press for maximum repetitions at a set weight.

•Log must travel from the ground to locked-out position overhead.

Set weights:

Under 90kg 60kg

90-105kg 70kg

Over 105kg 80kg

90 seconds per competitor.

Event 2: Arm-Over-Arm Pull – 2pm

The competitors will individually pull a sponsors vehicle (ute or 4WD) using an arm-over-arm technique over a set distance course (Probably 20m, depending on availability of space), or as far as they can in the allotted time of 90 seconds.

Event 3: Stone Lifting – 4pm

•The event will consist of 5 atlas stones.

•Each stone must be lifted in order onto its accompanying barrel.

•The stones will range in weight from 88kg to 130kg.

•The stones must be lifted in order of increasing weight.

•Each competitor will have 90 seconds to complete the course.

Good stuff, hope it goes well. I know bunch of NI guys are keen to come down if a NI vs SI comp can be set up.

Strongman seems to be run/supported by a really positive and proactive bunch of guys in both the North and South Island. Powerlifting and bodybuilding could probably take note?!

Bummer out of town that weekend would love to come down to have a look!

Maybe we should get a few of the guys down to the SI NZFBB Champs on the 12th Sep to do a display outside in the carpark at the half time break?????

Great day for Strongman, awesome exposure for the sport. Wicked battles in the super heavies, very competitive with four very strong guys going at it; Big Matt, Darren, Steve Varga and Jack. We had members of the public all day coming through and testing their grip strength on the Rolling Thunder. As well as giving the stones and the log a go, showing it's a sport where anyone can come in and have fun.

As for the whole Boy's Day Out, not really my scene, bogan-central :pfft: Some nice looking chickas floating round though =P~

I thought he was checking out the specs of those girls in the bus behind us cause he went missing for a while & was later seen to have a big smerk on his face. I understand they liked their Men Big.
