Hamstring activation

Recommended Posts

Read an article on Tnation where they talk about a dorsiflexed vs plantarflexed legcurl and how this will optimise the exercise....this idea isnt new to me BUT they advocate changing between the two positions during the movment citing that alot of pros do this. Ive always done a set dorsilexed and alternated with the next set plantarflexed both all the way up and down.

Changing at the top is kinda hard esp i you have a decent amount of weight on....

Thoughts?

Lift the weight with the feet dorsiflexed: your toes pulled up (lifted toward your knee).

Lower the weight with your feet plantar flexed. Point your toes, in other words.

So we're just talking about ankle position? I can't see how that would affect what's going on in the hamstring at all. :-s

Rotating the feet so they're pointing in or out (don't know the fancy word for this!) - now that would make a difference, I think. I do GHRs a lot, and really like the way they force you to squeeze inwards.
