I've had it before but it looks like nasty chicken, that's if it is actually chicken. I don't trust canned food from off-shore.

Whole pre-cooked chicken from the super market FTW, bung it in the fridge and tear some off for a sandwich or salad. Atleast it's in the shape of a chicken and you can clearly see what it is  Not as convenient and doesn't have a long shelf/fridge life but meh.

I don't buy this stuff , but assuming we're talking about the 185gm tins then when they are $2.50 it works out to $13.51 per kilo which is not to bad a price when compared to skinless chicken breast which is normally around $18 - 22 per kilo.

Even at $3.80 it works out to $20.50 per kilo which isn't to bad either.

I'd like to know why fresh tuna is so expensive compared to tinned, and yet fresh chicken is relatively similar in price to tinned. :-s

I think fresh tuna has been looked after really well so it can sell at higher prices. (Like as soon as it is caught they are bagged to protect the skin and then kept on ice) The tuna that goes in cans may not be looked after as well so it is cheaper? And the Chop Chop Chicken comes from Thailand I think

There's a couple of guys at work that eat the stuff as their main protein source. I take the piss by saying 'eating that kitten in a can again eh?'.

If you look at the pink shiny flesh you can't help imagine it was once a happy lil kitten before being slaughtered, skinned then 'chop chop'ed up and put in a can.

Found this stuff the other day and thought I should probably see what all the fuss is about, so grabbed the lite mayo. First mouthful, I thought I'd been poisoned. But I hate throwing out food, so persevered. Glad I did too, this stuff rocks. Have also tried the pepper, and chilli (let's face it, anything tastes good with chilli) and loved it. Not so keen on the smoked flavour though. Yes it's pricey compared with the tinned tuna (PaknSave had Sealord flavoured on special last week, I have about 70 cdans tucked away), but as a means of breaking up the fish routine, it's got my vote.

I used to eat it, before I read it was a product of Thailand and went cold on it for a while. After seeing this thread, I ate the left over cans and really, it ain't all that bad...If there was anything seriously raw dog with the products of thailand then I assume they wouldn't be allowed to be sold here. The thought of something like chicken being preserved though..

Still a bigger fan of the tuna ...after a while you grow to LOVE the flavour. Lemon and cracked peper, or smoked...both nice.

And if you read the can, and im assuming alot of you will eat the Sealord brand of tuna, you'll also see its a product of Thailand.

Sorry to dredge up another old-ish thread, but noticed a few people mentioning that Chop Chop is made in Thailand... Unless I'm missing the point, the batch of Sealord Tuna cans I bought yesterday all have "Product of Thailand" on the side too *shrugs* The fact that both the Tuna and the Chicken comes from Thailand doesn't bother me :)

Tried my first Chop chop chicken yesterday (the springwater flavour) found it edible, bit bland though. The Lite Mayo flavour I had today was much nicer, although obviously a little worse off nutrition wise (does it make that much of a difference if you're consuming the smaller cans though?).

Reviving an almost-dead article!!

I'm guessing the general consensus on ChopChop is that it's a good source for protein? 'cause at the moment I'm having half a big (160gm) can for each of my 15-min breaks at work (good ol' desk job lol) along with 1 row of Sakata rice crackers.

As far as I'm concerned, that's a much better snack option than pie/coke/café food!
