Should we keep 'The Playground'

I realise I am a 'New Member' and perhaps it isn't my place to question whether 'The Playground' should be kept or not but it seems to be a reoccurring theme in the threads discussing the current 'misconduct' on this site and I'm interested to see what the general consensus is.

if you get rid of the playground, then you will get stupid threads poping up else where, and that will create more work for the mods, i think the playground is needed,

i think the playground is valid, you have to opt in to view it.

but yes it does spill out into the main forums, and imo THAT is what needs addressing.

getting rid of it wont stop muppets from posting shit, but at least keeping the playground gives people who are that way inclined somewhere to 'dump' their bullshit posts. all we need is more agressive controlling of it when is spills out....

Well the playground was my idea in the first place, however unfortunately it seems that people are getting carried away, it's now filled with immature crap and drags down this whole site. It's gotten out of control with members creating new accounts and being stupid.

The problem with the playground is that is gives members a place where they are free to launch and maintain personal attacks against each other.

A lot of it begins with friendly back and forth shit giving but more often than not it starts to turn a little nasty.

The problem then is these members start hijacking each others posts in the normal forums hence ruining them as well a putting off other members from posting in them for fear of being shot down.

I think the Playground definitely has its place. I like to go there for a good laugh and see banter between members. Unfortunately a couple are killing it by bringing it to the main forums (who have since been banned). I think the other 'What's wrong with NZBB' thread has come up with some pretty handy ideas to reduce the crap coming onto this site.

But again, keep the Playground. If you don't like it, don't opt in in the first place.

agreed :wink: , the playground has been loads of fun in the past couple of yrs and its only because of the recent knob-ends that there has latley been trouble. there is no harm in taking the piss out of others that are willing to do the same (harmlessly). its wen it comes down to the threats and serious accusations that is it starts going to far and generally that isnt started from in the playground ,its more so started in the main forums by know-it-alls that think there way is the only way and that have to much testosterone.
