hey all, im just wondering if i am doing anything right about my dieting etc.

my goals are - to build all my muscles and carve up.

- build strength, stamina and a healthy body

- drop some weight and eat real food

- make good use of the big body im gifted with

my training is pretty basic still as i have only been doing this for about 7 weeks. im 25 y.o weigh 125kg 6'3ft tall

monday - upper body so arms, chest, shoulders, triceps, back, abs

start of with around 3sets of 45kgs, then 2sets of 55kg then 2sets of 65kg and 1set of the maximum so what ever i can cope with.

tuesday - cardio for about an hour + 20mis of legs + a body pump class

wednesday - work out with justin (big kiwi) so either upper body or legs either way it is one hell of a work out.

thursday - cardio for an hour or so +20 mins of legs + a body pump class

friday - go all out and do as much as i can on the full body

saturday - just mucking around taking it lightly but still working the arms

sunday - all out legs, squats, leg press, running, air walker, bike until i have had enuf.

my diet is pretty bad as im a chef so i have to taste things to make sure they are right.

thou this is how it normally is -

7am 8x wheat bix and a apple +1lt water and 4 lean fx

10am 1x chop chop chicken and fruit + 1lt water

12pm chicken and corn soup, 2 roast potato's and a protein shake

3pm what ever is on my mind, normally steak/chicken/fish + 1lt water

6pm ish pasta, 400g meat, mixed vege +1lt water and 4 lean fx - protein shake (tank- gym junkie with 3 shot of protein - same as above for shake)

9pm 6x wheat bix and a item of fruit

i know this ant a good diet but i know nothing about dieting as for the last 10 years i have been making nice meals and never really bothered to worry about the good stuff, guess this is where i stuffed up.

anyway i wondering if any of you guy's and girl's would have any advice on where im going wrong and what i need to do fast

cheers everyone

jamie

Welcome Jamie. you're a big unit. So it doesn't sound as if you are going to have too much of a problem packing on mass provided you maximise the quality and quantity of food that you take in. My first thought after reading your post was to ask what your short term goal is? The reason I say this is that the goals you have poststed are a bit 'generic'. There are a bunch of good routines and training mantras available and in the training area which would be a good place to start.

I guess being a chef means that there are a wide range of foods and temptations you have to watch out for. You have a big frame so it will hold a lot, but my first question is of the 125K is your first goal to shed some of that and then hit the iron, or do you just want to go for it on the same basis you are at the moment. Others may disagree, by IMHO I would be looking to set some weight and date targets. i.e. if you need to shed some, then a 3 month cardio program, and hit a high reps routine for a bit.

If you want just want to smash the weights then model something out of the training journals on here and set some measureable goal dates and weight targets from the get go. Good luck!

HI Jamie...one thing you don't mention is the time of day that you are training and when you are eating in advance of this training? By the looks of it you have 14 weetbix a day, plus pasta, plus baked potatoes, so a bunch of carbs....plus shakes and the meat protein. Thats a lot of fuel, which if not allocated to appropriate times could mean its just being converted into 'storage'. A suggestion is to re-allocate some of that carb fuel to an hour or two before training, so maybe shift some of it around. Personally...I would try to knock out the weetbix just before bed...Bazza
