does anyone know where i could find anymore info on this? also your thoughts on it :D im new to nz bb we had this class in canada but from what i saw on go figure they took it alot more seriously out there, was this just recently added?

Think that was the first time for it in NZ and it wasn't warmly received.

Personally I don't think a Bodybuilding comp is the wright place for it (nothing against the girls who do it though) .

i disagree, i personally think its awesome to have a division woman can take a softer more feminine approach on however...usually bikini competitors put in alot more effort before a comp

this is a picture of one of my friends who recently competed in the bikini class in alberta at wbff

she still has alot of definition and worked her ass off to get there thus deserving her place, i just think nzfbb needs to raise the bar abit before it becomes a joke

I agree. If they raise the bar in NZ, then it has a place. Unfortunately the Auckland girls were just not bikini models. Trinityau's friend looks amazing!

exactly, and yes she looked amazing! the bikini division could be great with the right approach and the right competitors

I take it back, your friend has done some serious work. If the girls would get to that standard then I can see what your saying. The big question is will they?!

My girl did a far bit of bikini comps both here and in oz and has a great body so obviously I was thinking of a bikini comp which is similar to what she does (which I don't think is wright for BB comps). Your friend seems to be more of a shape or even a body fitness class. Maybe more emphasis needs to be put into those classes to attract more girls before expanding comps to even more classes.

I think Luigi makes a good point..the concept's good, the way it was executed in Auckland left something to be desired - and I mean that without disrespect to the competitors, who had the guts to get on stage.

But, maybe if labeled differently (shape, bodyfitness, whatever), it could prove to be a good way of attracting extra people to the sport - particularly those women, and there are quite a few out there, who want to avoid the over-muscular look but still want to feel proud of their bodies, right?

I would be happy to give you some one on one tutorials.

:puke:

Anyway, back on topic. I agree with TFB. Either rename the class or create more emphasis on Shape and Fitness. To be honest, I'd rather aspire to be in one of those classes as a first timer, and perhaps move to figure later on when I was a little more experienced.

Sorry if this has been discussed already (I did a search, honest  ) but I didn't get to see the bikini class at Moe's show. Is the bikini class in NZFBB the same as the Shape class in NABBA? What are the judges looking for?

That line bugs me. Softer =/= more feminine.

scratch more feminine, add less muscular,...would have been a better way of putting it

I think it was meant to be (again, very little info at this stage) but the standard of entries was quite low. In the girls defense, they were roped in at the last minute.

IMO, figure is the ultimate goal (for me anyway) but as a newbie to the sport I would quite like to aim for the bikini/shape section first time round. Or perhaps I should just suck it up and aim for figure ;)

LOL - And alot less effort in the gym!! Its a goddam bodybuilding competition!! For goodness sake! This ain't goddam Baywatch! No wonder Outlaw refuses to have this class at his shows. What the hell is going on in the world? I've got an idea. Why don't we have a participation class? Even better still - a class where competitors can go on stage in their clothing - curtsey to the judges - then piss off! And please don't tell me that it helps getting more people on stage and opens the doors up for more competitors. It makes bodybuilding look like a joke. If it sounds that I am being negative - so be it - but I won't apologise for what I believe should be kept on the beach and not on a competitive bodybuilding stage. Right - where is that orange bathing suit ummmm...

Having seen Michiah train personally many times, I can tell you that she puts in as much effort in the gym if not more than most bodybuilders.

This show was not a true reflection of her usual conditioning due to recent travel and work committments, google Michaiah Simmons to see pics.

There are plenty of physique and figure competitors that don't look to have done much work either.

The funny part is that a lot of this discussion is reminiscent of when figure first appeared.

My point being, love it or hate it is your opinion, but don't assume a lack of muscularity or hardened condition implies a lack of work in the gym.

Speaking for myself, I wasn't assuming any such thing. My "WTF" was regarding the implication that physique and figure girls are somehow lazy/half-arsed in their pre-comp efforts, as opposed to the bikini division who usually give it their all.

....who said anything about either being lazy/half-arsed?

Complete your sentence, a lot more effort than....??

in my opinion some of the bikini models looked like they didnt do a whole lot of preparation for show, its an opinion, i never used any terms like "lazy/half-assed" "elephant class" there bodies were just fine but when your standing up there next to figure models your bound to be compared to some degree

This is old now - i was in this bikini class and thanks to Moe it has now motivated me to take a look at my figure, join the gym and use a personal trainer!!!!! I admire the hard work and effort that is put into the training and even more so now that i am in the gym myself. So my week now consists of 10 hours hard dancing and 8 hours full on gym work. The bikini class for me was a positive move - gota start somewhere. :P
