Metaphysics Lean Shot Casein/WPC Choc-Orange

I thought I'd post this up, [With apologies to Laurasaur for borrowing her format :) ] - it's the first time I've felt sufficiently enthusiastic about a protein powder that it deserves it.

This is a new product from Metaphysics, which I only tried 'cos my local shop was out of their Nitrosyn pp. But, I wasn't disappointed in what I got. After reading the label, the presence of palm oil extracts surprised me, but there's no obvious aspartame or other dodgy sweeteners that I can see.

Website: Pro-Soma

Presentation - Metaphysics must have got the message, not just with this product but their other 1.3kg tubs, the powder's now in a plastic bag inside the tub, to stop bits of the plastic lid seal from falling into the powder, a criticism voiced on here before. Well done!

Taste - It's a wicked chocolate-orange flavour, so nice to drink something that isn't chocolate or vanilla.

Sweetness - Didn't notice anything - not over-sweet or bitter at all

Texture - mixes in a hand shaker to a smooth creamy, thick shake. Yum!

Mixability - mixed very well in hand-shaker, no major lumps, cleans up well.

Smell in packet - No obvious odd smells at all

Smell in shake - Smells like choc-orange, no obvious fake flavour or 'odd' notes

Cost - Retail is $84.95 for 1.3kg/ 46 serves, so it isn't particularly cheap.

Side Effects - None that I've encountered.

Summary - with the additives, possibly not as cost-effective as choosing them for yourself and adding them separately, but a really nice casein/wpc blend, a great tasting, great mixing product. I'd buy it again.

Price seems pretty reasonable to me as a normal retail (my powder X is $100 online for 70 serves, so around about the same when adjusted for servings)

Lots of added extras in there, and surprisingly at good quantities (most companies skimp on the amounts) did you notice any energy kick off it? Thats about a similar amount of caffiene to what youll find in an expresso and with the tyrosine also Im guessing Id feel it.

Actually, no, I didn't notice the caffeine - because it's casein, I've been using it last meal of the day, and I had no difficulty sleeping.

Mind you, a) I'm still rather chubby, and b) my normal coffee's a double-long-black with an extra shot, so by now it takes a LOT of caffeine to rock my world
