bulk protein

hey guys i wanna up the protein intake and want to find an affordable means of accomplishing this. ive been thinking about buying a bulk of 20kgs in a bag as ive found some who sell in this quantity after searching on google. i was just wondering does anyone know any cheap sources of bulk protein at roughly a similar quantity. i was considering buying from davis trading the price is fair but before i do i wanted some peoples input. are there any cheaper sources for protein?if you guys have dealt with this company before, can you give me an opinion on their proteins as ive heard the unflavoured natural proteins are alot different to the regular commercially sold protein. and if i want to mix for example cocoa, what would be the rough ratio would it be like 2:1? ive heard cocoa with these unflavoured proteins does the trick but if anyone has tried that aswell can i get an opinion of the mixability and taste.

does anyone know when the best time to buy is? as ive heard they sell cheaper cuz they buy at cheaper costs according to the dairy season from what i heard that begins in june so i assume there is a price drop to come?

Just a heads up, the unflavoured protein is very different to a pre flavoured one. If you are planning on just mixing with cocoa, remember cocoa by itself is very bitter. So you may want to add a sweetener of some form like all commercial preflav's have.

I find the best way to use this kind of protein is -> blender, ice, and a bit of fruit for your carbs and flavour. But that takes time + hassle + cleaning of blender afterwards which is a bitch. However my partner just skulls this stuff back straight mixed with water. Which makes me gag...

ok what about cadbury mixing chocolate or like milo or something like that? i wanna have the convenience of using a shaker still..i might just take a scoop and maybe half a scoop or 1/3 scoop milo or whatever right into the shaker instead of pre mixing the ENTIRE bulk lot.

Yeah milo would taste better but the nutritional info for milo aint great, especially if you are tryna cut. If you are bulking however then go for gold... milo is great hehe, and mixing each shake separately is the way to go you would never get the distribution right if you did 20kgs at once lol

yeah thats what im worried about. im not trying to cut buy i wanna eat healthy all year round cocoa wouldnt be so bad but i kno milo or pre mix powders will contain alot of sugar over 6 shakes a day that would be insane along with costly...are there alternatives to getting a nice chocolate taste without all the sugar do the supplement companys accomplish this with artificial sweeteners? i might just try drink it plain unless there are other alternatives because i only want to mix by shaker not blender.

i know someone who has just ordered 20kgs from fonterra for about $400

i got 5kgs of him and mixed it with a 1kg bag of eatme

so for $140 i have 6kgs

theres better quality powders elsewhere but for cost i think its definitely worth it if you go through a kilo a week

Get the unflavored WPI or WPC protein if ur cutting. Its good and cheap from fonterra. And you can save up the money for foodd.....

Harden up mate and just have shake with water, its all good.

As GreekAdonis says

"Having it plain with water tastes a bit like watery milk"

yeah im gunna try it with water ive had some pretty aweful pre workouts so i should manage with this i like the idea of mixing commercial but thats costly however i recently purchased 4 5 pounders this could work well for me. currently im having about 120-150 grams of protein powder a day i wanna bump it up to 200 on training days and about 150 minimium on off days as i can get an extra meal of 8-10 egg whites but yeah its 1kilo or a bit more of protein a week.

I have un flavoured isolate I just mix it with water and chuck it down, you soon get used to the taste, all flavoured protein tastes awful to me now! The great thing about un flavoured is you never get sick of the taste, and when you're buying 20kg at a time that really matters!!

That Fonterra protein powder you get.....I heard you need to add stuff to it just help absorb all the protein in it...or os that just all talk???

dont believe what you hear you can trust diary companies over bodybuilding companys and its pure and untainted without any additives or sweeteners...with absorption it should absorb the same way as any other diary product...

hey guys speaking of asborption that reminded me of something i was considering buying some dextrose in a bulk as well i was just wondering how much dextrose should you use per serving in your post workout shake? I also wanted to know would absorption of the dextrose be quicker if i just drink it alone in water before my actual shake.would the milk slow it down? i assume generally most people would mix it up in their shake anyway but have you guys every wondered about that? while its liquid its probly faster than dates, which is currently part of my post workout 103 GI compared to dextrose at 105 GI

hey bro, no offence meant, but don't you think you're overanalysing it a bit? I think the most important part is having the dextrose (or dates...?) post workout for a fast acting carb source instead of worrying whether taking something 5-10 mins before/after your protein shake is more beneficial. eventually you'll learn what works best for you...

again, no offence, just my $0.02 :)

yeah your right lol i do think things way too far but thats just me always have been like that. anyhoo ive thought about changing to dextrose for a while as ill be absorbing it as a liquid not a solid and its a better type of sugar in comparison to dates but dates are brilliant anyhow at 103 gi you feel like superman a few minutes later. 8)

hey guys i just got a sample of unflavoured natural WPI protein gunna try this later on. a serving with milk, a serving with milk and commercial protein; maybe 5:1 ratio, and maybe a serving with water ill let you all know what i think :)

ok guys this unflavoured protein isnt bad is just tastes like nothing when drunk with milk when adding 5:1 ratio of another commercial protein it doenst make a difference to the taste nor 2:1 so you gotta just gotta put up with the lack of taste, i guess the cost is worth it in the end so i think i will be buying a bulk of this...for those who have a sensitive stomach i suggest you get a sample as well before buying such a big quantity.
