Does Dieting Need a Break?

WHAT!!!

As some/most people on here (bodybuilding) types take a week or so off weight/exercises to give the body a break because of the amount of stress from weight training and all.

So does anybody do it or is it good idea to give the dieting a break as well for a week or so? (just to give the body a break from keep processing all the food all the time)

Just to be clear, when i mean a break from dieting means

Not thinking about how much protein your having for each meal.

Not talking about cheat meals as such.

What are your thoughts?

Um... for me, it's not a "diet", it's just how I eat.

So I doubt I could/would throw it out the window entirely. Sure, I might adjust it, but key to my own personal success (partly 'cos I'm older) is staying close to the "on" diet ratios of pro/carbs/fat.

We are all on a 'diet' - a 'diet' is just a pattern of eating to regulate the amount of nutrients we receive. F@#ks me off when people talk about diets / dieting and think the two are somehow mutually exclusive of each other. On another note, I think if you eat relatively cleanly 5 or 6 out of 7 days you need to have a day to give the body somethings it craves and a few days of eating a little less cleanly wont hurt every so often.

Depends how strict you are with your onseason food plan. You have to relax things up a bit from time to time & not be too pedantic with your "clean calories". It may depend on your goals oncoming comps etc & perhaps your body type & metabolism. Some people can put on fat just looking at a cake whereas others can bacically throw anything at their body & it processes it up & spits it out the other end. A lot has to do with the % of muscle mass you have. THe more muscle the better the metabolism as far as fat & carbs are concerned.
