ok so i have been trying to get deeper and deeper in the squats and yesterday i went all the way down,Oh man what a feeling!it feels amazing,i have never had my hams hurt after squats, this really works out the whole leg and the knees didn't feel anything.I am now an A2g disciple.

Ass to Grass is the only way to do it. Fries my Quads and Glutes and feels way more natural. Plus it's a lot more impressive to see a guy rep couple 100kg atg rather than powerlifters back squat

how much can you squat squat_bot ?

I agree impressiveness in the squat is directly correlated to depth. It's much more impressive to see a guy squat 40kgs ATG RAAAAWW!!!!!!! than seeing some wimp squat 300kgs to powerlifting depth (just below par) in cheater belt and cheater wraps.

Last count 89% of people said they squat to parallel or below..........

I'm calling BULLSHIT!!!!!!!!!!

In most gyms I have been in (and thats a fair few in 20 years of training) I would see less than 10% of people squatting to parallel or below (and I'm probably being generous saying 10% ).

Either many of those participating in this survey don't know what parallel means (i.e. top of thigh by hip joint being inline with top of the knee) or there are a lot of dishonest voters!

Yeah, he should really go deeper on that 1st squat, was pretty high by ATG standards.

Check out this guy hes even worse!

Next to no one pulls that stunt, besides, that lift got turned down. That's not powerlifting, it's a joke.

If we take the IPF as the most popular powerlifting fed, then they're going pretty deep.

What do you think of these squats?

I'm calling BULLSHIT... Comments?

The survey respondents may not be representative of the people you've seen in these gyms?

Conversely, I recently had to correct one of my TP's. He thought he was going low enough but the height he was squatting to had crept up since I'd last trained with him. So some people might think they're going below parallel when they're not. However, that's not to say this is what the survey respondents are guilty of...

Maybe, but call me cynical, rugby players and BBers are notorious half / quarter squatters! Not all fit this category by any means, but there is no way 89% of people here do parallel or below even if the survey has more deep squatters than the general gym population.

Big Mac, what do you reckon bro?

I AGREE!! They just know it;s bad to not squat deep so they don't admit 2 it

Maybe, but call me cynical

:pfft: Maybe it should've been a public poll (is that possible here?) so you can see who responded what. Then, if you saw them at the gym squatting partial like a tard you could tut tut at them and shame them later :P 8)

I've gotta say I vary squat depth all the time anyway. One week I'll go comp squats (just below parallel) or low box squat, then I may do high boxes (above parallel) the following. I'll also do highbar narrow squats ATG every few weeks.

No shame in going heavy as anything and high, as long as you know you're high & aren't trying to compare to others comp reps or someones ATG reps.

I reality for some sports (definately rugby) a partial movement has move carryover to the movements required in the game.

But for bodybuilding the general rule is "Half squats equal half legs"!!!

Agreed re different requirements to build strength for sport... But what if someone only ever sees you doing the partials? Not that it matters two shits what anyone else thinks etc, but if someone never sees you on ATG day/cycle whatever, then, well, your reputation is ruined! :pfft:
