I personally can't squat for SH1T

I still squat in every quad workout, either first off to get the blood pumping or post leg press to get a good squeeze. Either way its only ever 100kg max and it is always balls to the floor ass to the ground low, it is the only way I know and I feel like I am cheating if I go half way down or if I can't feel the quads the whole way through.

Part of my issue is I am out of practice, my legs are weak compared to my upper body especially when I can bench more than I can squat.

I started training with guys older than me.. They were always go to the bottom and come up, they then show me pitures of Tom Platz some of the biggest legs I have seen he goes right down.... you might say hes a has been but look at Ronnie he goes right down and Yates..

My friends told me the only reason you would not go right down is because its hard, you can use more weight if you don't go right down we know that... but if you train heavy what ever weight range that might be for you and go right down to the bottom and up you can hardly walk after training then you know it must be working espically when your legs get the shakes after training for up to an hour so I have always gone right down, but a down side my ass has got bigger in doing so but could just my diet though,,,

Good luck on what ever works for you, but check out guys with big legs and see what they do :)

Haha, Squat Deep Phirana FTW!

The caption with the dog pic said it had had it's Myostatin gene turned off, so it grew like that nautrally. I've only ever heard that done with mice, but it doesn't look like it's been photoshopped.

BTW if they turned that gene off in you, you'd grow super massive too, without having to lift weights lol.

Yes thats right. There was an article on this dog in new scientist magazine a few months back. It had been genetically engineered to be born without any myostatin gene whatsoever. Apparently alot of pro bodybuilders are born with a myostatin deficiency and this is what helps them to excell.

WOW  That's one of the coolest things I've ever heard... I suppose if you had the gene removed the only way you could control your muscle growth is by not eating as much.

Why haven't they done this in humans yet?? Ethics or is it more complicated to perform on a human?

Here's that shot of a baby with the genetic mutation. Was only 6 months old I think?

From memory they talk about this topic a little in that Bigger, Stronger, Faster movie. I think the tests being conducted are only being done for muscular dystrophy and other similar diseases. But I remember the scientist guy saying he'd be the first in line to try it if it became available for human testing :pfft:

I doubt pro bodybuilders generally suffer from this gene defficiency, although they'd probably claim it to seem more natural. Growth hormone and Steroids would give them all the development they need, and if they did have this gene problem and took drugs they would look even more f*cked up then they do...

I went to school with a guy, not sure he had this specific problem, but he was 16 and had to have many surgeries to cut muscle tissue from around joints etc, so he could move properly and without pain, because his muscles were growing too large, too quickly. He looked like a powerlifter, but didn't lift weights. Weird huh?

Ass to Grass is the only way to do it. Fries my Quads and Glutes and feels way more natural. Plus it's a lot more impressive to see a guy rep couple 100kg atg rather than powerlifters back squat
