Diving

Recommended Posts

Do any of you guys dive?

The amount of time you can safely spend underwater at any given depth is based on quantity of nitrogen absorbed into the blood stream.

While on AAS your body/muscles use nitrogen and store it more effeciently........right?

what does this mean to the diver.....longer deco stops or what.

Unfortunately my dive computer doesn't have a "Using gear" mode, and nothing would f*ck up a dive weekend and cycle more than getting bent.

Having just started diving this year, I'd been wondering a similar question, although not from a steroid angle. I thought maybe the extra nitrogen diving causes in the blood might be beneficial to bodybuilding. Hey, we can but hope!

But I really don't know enough to offer an opinion of any value, sorry.

Diving nitrogen as in that causing the bends is dissolved gaseous nitrogen (the stuff you breathe in from your lungs), the sort of nitrogen balance we play with in the gym is the nitrogen attached to amino acids which wont turn to gaseous nitrogen (easily anyway). Dont know what other effects gear might cause but it wont cause the bends so on that angle youre safe :)

Oh found the reason.....

quote from a dive doctor

"Research generally suggests that users are more hostile, aggressive, irritable, manic & depressed, and they report more emotional instability, impulsivity, and aggression, than former users or non-users. They are often reported as more likely to abuse other drugs, as well. "

Aparently unstable junkies have no control over our minds or actions and will do something stupid at depths......

There doesn't seem to be any medical reason to not dive while on cycle.

Update

We have got back from a 4 day dive trip, during this time we had 3 dives per day and one day we did 4. Took the computer to its decompresion limits, without enterering deco time. depest dive of 44m and no sign of narcosis or anything different, i guess diving is safe while on cycle .....except the wetsuit is a little tight.
