What is the difference between doin the lat pulldown in front to your chest and pulling it down behind your head???

what muscles does this work differently and is it good practise to do it behind ???

i was told because you are pushing your neck forward it puts your posture/alignment out and you risk injury???

Any thoughts??? :?

i would avoid lat pulldowns to the back of the neck.

it does cause your neck and spine to be at a un-natural bend putting stress on it.

i have had a injury when i started out to my upper back area which i put down to doing these and chins to behind the neck. but years ago this was what everyone was told was the correct way to do these.

definitely doing pulldowns to the front with good form works the lats better.

and its the lats this exersize is designed to target.

have someone show you correct teqnique and doing this and wide grib chins to the front as well will build you and impressive wide back.
