Good meal or Bad meal? (pic included)

Here's my dinner tonight in the picture.. basically its a large steamed chicken breast, around 180 - 250ish grams of rice and a portion of vegetables...

Pretty good right?

But theres a catch - this is a TAKE AWAYS!.. so despite it being on paper a relatively healthy and clean meal, the fact that its a takeaways is concerning right?... or wrong? You tell me.

What do you think? Would you trust this as a healthy alternative to cooking your own meal (and @ a reasonable $10 cost!), or is it too dodgy since there could be MSG etc etc all in there?

VERY keen to hear your thoughts. post-5387-14166819399213_thumb.jpg

where did you get it from?

Its from a.. hhhm, actually - I think its a Chinese type takeaway..

They do a variety of Jap, Chinese meals and prob a few other ethnicities - but just lots of steamed type meals.

Any thoughts?

Looks fine to me. Takeaway meals can be nutritious. There may be a seasoned aspect to the chicken or the rice with a high sodium content but you could tell that by taste I expect. Enjoy!

I like the sound of this! TBH the whole meal is actually quite bland - and the very light sauce that is on there doesnt taste very salted or sugared (not really sure what word I am looking for there) .. but doesnt taste very seasoned at all.

I generally cook meals for dinner thats enough for 2 portions and take the rest for lunch - when I broke down the costs of rice, meat, veges and any extra sauces + the time that went into shopping and preparing.. it actually works out cheaper and easier to get this.

Hearing that it is a relatively quality meal is music to my ears \:D/

looks good to me, and for $10 i think its a beter option than mac's as Calvin said you could make it for $5 but hey, if thats the case id never buy another steak or pizza or burger ..............again. id be happy with that in a food court for a$10er.

$10 seems quite expensive to me. I could make this for about 4-5$

Damn, guess I havent been efficient enough with hunting down meat specials then! Normally the chicken breast alone in this meal would set me back a $5er...

How about this then, would you guys be happy to eat this meal (or very similar) dinner and lunch for 5 days?... or is not THAT healthy?

I eat food from Take Aways too, but only once or twice in a week. The rest of the days I cook for myself. Yes sometimes it's more expensive to buy and cook your own meals, but I never look at it in terms of cost. I look at the benefits of making my own healthy meals because I know exactly what I put in them and in what quantities.

Looks ok, I'd eat it.

Like everyone else has said it would be cheaper to make yourself.

That's about 250gms of chicken $3-$4 ($5 in Foodtown)

Rice and a handful of frozen veges $1 at most.

Definitely a good unscheduled bulking meal for an under 85kg guy but just too expensive to be doing it daily. After a month you could have paid for a 5lb tub of protein with the money saved...or after a year you could have saved over $1,200 (@$5/day - 5 days a week)

The photo doesnt make it look as large as it is, there is a reasonable portion there and I am 96kgs - but then again, I dont eat mass amounts in one sitting, tend to eat more meals more often than large in one go.

Just got sick of cooking the same boring shit and wanted a change for a few meals a week!!

Ha, missed the Avatar - so the whole small penis thing is over my head.. well not his penis - agh you know what I mean!

y not eat large more often?

Haha, good point... :pfft:

With the amount I eat as it is I am pushing the 'intake limits' and gaining a little bit of excess so i dont limit muscle growth.. if I ate large more often I would blow up like a balloon!!

Yuck.

The veges look limp and overcooked

The rice is white (and has plastic vege bits in it?)

The chicken doesn't look fresh, and

The plate looks greasy

The people serving it probably breathed or spat on it (whether accidentally or on purpose).

And yeah I'd bet it's got high sodium or MSG or something else going on.

Fail :pfft:
