10kg of lean mass in 6 months???

As the title says, is this workable?

Ideally Id like to put on 15kg in the long run but if I follow a good clean bulk diet and the correct routine can 10kg in 6 months be acheived?

Now it doesn't seem like that much, it's just under 0.5kg per week, 0.8lbs to be exact..

Now I will be overseas away from home and normaly distractions with great eating facilities ( mess hall open 24/7) and a fairly good gym that has squat rack, free weights and a couple of cable machines.

I am currently 74kg ( 163 lbs) and following a chest/tri , legs/calves, shoulders/bi's and back calves routine ( 4 day split )

I have a high metabolism so cutting fat won't be an issue especailly in 40C heat.

So, if my focus, routine and diet are all dialled in, can I acheive this?

depends on supplements, genetics, how long you have been training, and how determined and consistent you are.

simple answer from what you have said, no.

lol I like the first part of your reply, there was a hint of positive in there, then I read the last line. I know it is a big ask.

I guess all I can do is eat big, lift big and be happy with what results I come home with. I know I could put on 10kg in 6 months but the majority of that wouldn't be lean if you get what I mean.

How about I change the question slightly, is it acheivable to put on 10kg in 6 months understanding alot won't be lean mass?

yup you could easily do that, or try put 15kg on in the time and hope that half of it is muscle

If you have never trained before but have good genetics its a possibility, but generally they would be amazing results if it did happen, so not likely but not impossible, Doesnt really tell you much does it!!

I have trained before, just 4 weeks back in after 5 months off with a torn shoulder tendon so ramping up the intensity and volume somewhat. I fly out on Sun and am happy I have my body back to where I can give it all again and trust I won't re-injure.

I'm fairly lean anyway so mabye an all out bulk for 6 months maybe in order??

hhmmm I could try that. I'm pretty lean anyway so seeing alittle fat on my frame would be a change lol.

get some mutant mass to help bump up your calorie intake.. helped me alot in putting on weight.. yea put on some fat but also have put on some good mass

I make my own weight gainer shakes, alot cheaper than buying that stuff. I take in 2 shakes a day at 1000cals each on top of the 3000cals of food. Easy to drink, easy calories and the last one I take within an hour of going to bed, I no longer wake hungry

I got directed to here from another forum, quite an informative read...

http://www.tmuscle.com/readArticle.do?id=1268956

After reading this at best I can maybe gain 12lbs or 5.5kg of good quality mass in 6 months. That is at best. Now chances are I could gain more but it won't be clean.

I really hope 75% of what I gain is in my legs lol.. Hate having chicken legs hahahah

The words mess hall and working in 40 degree heat suggest that maybe you are in the forces. If so I am sure you will be aware how important it will be to keep yourself hydrated not only for day to day activities but it will be even more vital if you want to live and train in that heat plus if you want to gain lean muscle keeping well hydrated is important. Take some multi vits and minerals with you. Can be difficult eating lots of food in the heat but eat as much good clean food as you can, complex carbs, protein and good fats. Good luck. :)

YOu are correct on the assumption of my profession. I know what your saying about the heat and hydration. Aclimatisation is key here, to get use to the heat sooner rather than later.

I will be keeping my cardio to only what is required otherwise I will lean out real quick with my body type.

ive just finished my first bulk - 5 months, and a decent 13kgs up. put on fat 4 sure, but also beef aswell. bbings a marathon, not a sprint! muscletech might claim you can but most realists will agree slow steady gains, eat big and clean, lift hard and consistent, let the dust settle later!

Congrats on the gains man.. What was your diet like if you don't mind me asking.

can anyone give bit more info on

" Your body's protein synthesis capacities are dependent on your natural Testosterone levels, your Testosterone to cortisol ratio, your insulin sensitivity, and your muscle fiber makeup, among other things. "

interesting....

That would be a big reply to cover all those variables. In brief though, the body can synthesise more protein into muscle cells in the presence of high test & insulin & low cortisol levels. One reason why BBers use exogenous testosterone & insulin to bulk up.
