breaking the mould / eating big

Recommended Posts

Hey guys,

how does one "break the mould" in bodybuilding enabling them to put on a good amount of size and even transform themsevles permantly.

nutrition might be good, but not perfect

caloric intake.. (never enough)

training is good, strength is good.

maybe caloric intake is just not high enough, but therein lies the problem, perhaps to be successful in breaking the mould you have to be a genetically BIG EATER! unfortunately some of us just cant seem to eat big. myself included.

Im not going to do the maths on this, i know im not getting in enough, never getting in enough!

im sure many can relate if they were honest with themselves. theres only one thing that makes me eat like MAD and thats marijuana but of course thats just not practical, why hasnt science figured out how to seperate that yet..?

there is a synthetic form of marijuana called

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tetrahydro ... Dronabinol

would like to give a try but chances are slim.

ive also tried b12, waste of time.

any ideas?

I haven't had a problem over the years ... I can eat all day long if I let myself. Could be genetics ..... at the same time I can run productively on 1200 cal per day if I really focus ... first two weeks are a c$%t but it gets a lot easier once you get through carb withdrawl.

Some of my fav bulking meals:

Breakfast

16 weetbix + Protein shake + 2 pc toast with jam and peanut butter and a banana or apple if need be. 1L of milk ....

Standard post leg session meal: used to be a protein shake + 2 wendys baked potatoes + sour creme covered in one of their chilli cups.

Good bulking lunch:

Mac attack and 2 cheese burgers (Thats 2 BMacs and Large fries  )

or 1 whole roast chicken and a loaf of wholegrain bread.

......

Eating big requires the same focus as eating lean - just rem: if you can't tense your abs you are bloated.

It's a state of mind you have to work (train at it) - the challenge is turning it off once you are in the zone

ok to be honest ive tried b12, periactin, eq. will have to try grub on and black hole next. guess its just a matter of buy and try..

tried the whole stomach stretching technique, dont beleive in that, might give GHRP6 a go next, not holding my breath, have just wasted money on peptides in the past.

read that thread, a lot of anecdotal advice there, its worked for them so thats great but not for me.

taking a 1000cal shake first thing in morning, easy to get down but u sure feel full after an hour or so.

yup eating is just as hard as training!

hmmm its been a dilema for the past 15 years!

ive tried many other products in the past, no luck main thing is just been protein. not sure if creatine worked all that good for me.

Cheers Luigi

Guess there is no one answer to this as there are so many variables. For me though I don't worry to much about calories as there are so many things that come into play and it can get complicated. Things like genetics, thermogenic effect of food, hormones, activity and so on all come into it. I concentrate on the food macros.

I eat med carbs, med fats and high protein (from good clean food) If I added a pizza every day it would certainly increase my calories but I would become a fat bastard even when on a cycle.

I'm guessing from your picture bodysculpt that maybe you are more into the strongman/powerlifting thing than bodybuilding and perhaps you arn't too worried if you have abs showing or not although I think Mario Pudzianowski has proved you can be a very good strongman and yet have a bodybuilder type body.

IMO alot of guys don't put enough effort into their good fats intake and that can make a big difference in increasing body weight and strength. Also for people wanting to lose body fat increasing your good fats and cutting out your carbs will make your body burn off body fat rather then the carbs you would normally be injesting.

You must be doing something right though if you are at 96 kilos and lifting cars! I'm heavier but wouldn't have no chance of lifting a car. Good luck :)

**** it im buying Wendys tomoro!

haha ... you just have to balance it at the other end. I have found it works well for me. Most guys say they are going to do a bulk but then taper off when the start to lose their abs. The point of a bulk is to keep your body in a state of nutritional bliss. You can always diet it back easy enough ....

5 kg up - 4 down and repeat 10 times is a good way to manage it if you don't want to get too out of hand.

Nutrition needs to be cycled the same way as training. Hone is right it is about finding the right balance and/or IMO being prepared to forgo the cuts to allow for weight gain/

Try drinking your daily carbs mate. My blender currently goes overtime with potatoes, rice, oatmeal. For me it's the only way to get the calaries in. Topping off with 450g protein ED all spread over 9 meals

yeah it sure can get complicated it seems, even with a bit of knowledge on the matter. yup trying to get in more EFA's MCT's got 4 litres of coconut oil and 2 litres of Hemp seed oil (which tastes rank no matter what you put it with) think i'll stick with olive oil for EFA from now on, maccadamia oils nice.

Id like the best of both worlds like Mario! hes a genetic freak tho..

youre welcome to lift my car anytime :) i couldnt do it initially, but after a bit of conditioning i could.
