Anyone know any good sources of bulk cheap fish like tilapia which the yanks get for basically nothing?

The supermarkets pretty thin in this department, I havnt been to a fish market yet as I dont really know what type to ask for lol,

Advice? And preferably in Dunedin,

Thanks

pak n save often have 2kg bulk bags of misshapen products for $14.95. more often than not it's crumbed hoki fillets, a bit processed but if you don't mind the bread crumbs they are ok.

cook easy in the george as well

HOKI is a deep sea fish and is crap

Also crumbed fish is processed and only contains about 40-50% actual fish

Food doesn't have to be nice for a bodybuilder to eat it :-)

x5 Sealord Hoki fillets is 1/2kg and only $7 from Pak 'n Save. Each piece gives 18gms of protein! Hasn't got same levels of fish oil but that's a given because it's not salmon, tuna or kawhai. Best of all it doesn't come in a tin and have 1/2 teaspoon of sodium added. Also it's not a predatory fish so mercury levels aren't as high if you're sensitive to....death by mercury.

Simple to just put pieces in a bowl and microwave them frozen for 5mins they come out hot and moist and my favourite....you don't have to chew! Am sick of chewing beef.

If you workout around 6-7pm then a packet of Hoki each evening is a great addition to your daily food intake. 3 pieces for dinner (54gms protein) and 2 before bedtime (followed by a Casein shake if you're a big fella).

i did mention the fact that it is processed, but at $14.95 for a 2kg bag it is a cheap alternative in my opinion. and if you're not cutting then who cares about a few breadcrumbs. the stuff i buy at pak n sav claims to be 23.4g of protein per 100g. don't see the problem with it and i like it.

android, thanks for you post, i respect your opinion when it comes to food.
