Some aspartame info

aspartame got introduced in america about 1985 primarily by diet coke. it was a huge multi $million campaign. i was at university at the time. i remember, i was pretty jazzed as finally there was to be a sweetener that was safe and tasted exactly like sugar. the negative research on saccharin had just been dragged through the media. i bought my first diet coke and headed for the library. after drinking it, i immediately felt nauseous, headache, and dizzy. it felt as if i was going to pass out or faint. several days later, i tried it again, this time, only half a can and got the same piercing headache. i never injested that poison ever again.

my thoughts are that some folks are much more suscepitble to the side effects than others. i only use the real deal (sucrose/fructose) in extreme moderation, or bb supplements such as protein powders, that use stevia or nothing.

sucralose and acesulfame k are two other artificial sweeteners (sucralose is based on the organochlorine molecule, which is widely used in pesticides like roundup, etc.). after doing some research, and weighing the balance of evidence, the current arsenal of artifical sweeteners sound potentially unhealthy, imho.
