protein from nuts?

nuts(peanuts, almonds etc) are most convenient for me to take to university as a protein source after the shake...

but for example peanuts they've got quite a bit of fat 48g with 7g saturated and rest unsaturated. 21g carbs and 25g protein

can anyone advice on how much can i include them in my daily diet? and what would be considered too much?

as of now my diet has a little bit(40gms a day :D) of nuts but im so tempted to go for more as an afternoon tea/snack etc

Im referring to roasted unsalted almonds, peanuts and "eta" dry roasted peanuts...

I eat shitloads of nuts.

Almonds are the best IMO and I can eat them in high amounts. I think they are also the only nut that is alkalizing.

Cashews are good too but don't agree with everyone

Hazels, peanuts, pistachios are all good to include but I think in lesser amounts and the fat content here is higher... not that that concerns me in terms of gaining fat but in sending me to the loo

yea i heard that protein from nuts is not the "bodybuilding type" protein - i dont know much about it but i'd like to know. thanks rose for the info, very helpful.

almonds = $2.89/100gm

peanuts = $0.89/100gm

being student for some reason i tend to buy more peanuts :D but if its "bad" for you then by all means i need to know so i'll reduce my peanut intake...

And it's worth checking the macros on the nuts - raw, not roasted/salted, obviously.... a lot of the supermarkets that have bulk bins also have the standard nutrient-label info behind the counter, if that website doesn't help.

i did this last night and peanuts have more good stuff in them than almonds so why pay 3 times the price ?

Hey rooney111, like everything they are cheaper if you buy in bulk. Try Moore Wilson in Wellington or Davis Trading. The 1 or 2kg catering packs are much cheaper than the bulk bin at the supermarkets.
