Great topic especially with coming into comp season. I have been competing for 9 years consistently and still trying to find the perfect formula. My best tans last year and this year involved a weekly sun bed to keep a good base, 2 weeks out I up it to 2 per week and then a light coat of dream tan on the day and abit of touch up at night. As I suffer from excema, alot of products are a nightmare for my skin, pro-tan was horendous as the alcohol in it sent me into a rashey disaster, contest colour still bit my skin a little and I looked like a recently landed marshian with the body shimmer, so the sunbed was fab because it settled my skin (yes cancer blah blah) and helps bring the natural oils out and the dream tan combo was best. I always take baby oil and old towels with me for clean up at night which takes 80% of the dream tan off so then instead of 1 hour soaping and scrubbing in the shower, it only takes 20mins. You still find abit of residue on clothes for the next few days.

I am really keen to try any other products that can be imported that people have experienced success with.

As Outlaw suggests, CG, you might be better with contest colour & shimmer from Kabakoff as its lanolin based. Easier on the skin & not as messy as Dream Tan

Spooky, this was me to a T last year. Loved not having pro tan hanging round for weeks afterwards and the 20 minute clean up rocked :)

I have used Body shimmer for years with my female athletes as it is not so heavy on the skin. last year i decided to use it guest posing and i was very happy with it.

Next time i compete i will stick with the shimmer over either a Spray tan or contest colour. dream tan has defiantly done its dash for me, it was a good product but has had its day.

Just be wary with the new colour bodyshimmer of putting on too much. I got a 2nd coat put on in Melbourne by the tanners and it was too dark and too messy (as can be seen in the avatar on the left).

I went back to the hotel, showered it all off, and started again at night with one coat, a much nicer colour and less messy.

Less is more sometimes.
