Hi all

have been visiting your site for a while and have now decided to take the plunge and give the training a good and proper go! Have tried many times before but goaless and uneducated.

so my goals are...

to decrease my bodyfat % and discover if i have any abs some where(currently at 20%)

increase strength

improve cardio fitness

increase muscle mass

(are these still too vague?)

i am 100kg (looking to be around 95kg - 100kg)

180cm tall

have a lean but fat build (the mrs says im a skinny-fat guy) lol

i am currently weight training 5x/week and road running 5x/week

my diet usually consists of wholemeal breads, chicken, fruit and veges and whey protein.

i play rugby league also... not so serious but hard enough to get the adrenalin going! lol anyways any tips would be cool.. but more importantly just wanted to say HI to you all!

I play for the Marist Saints in Auckland, we play in the Fox Memorial Premiership, I play top side. Played for Mt Albert throughout my career and just changed clubs this year for a change. Enjoyed winning five premierships with Mt Albert which includes three bartercard cup titles and two fox titles. What are your goals for league? Are you planning to try be a professional league player or are you just trying to lose weight?

the mighty lions aye! sounds like you've had a successful time at league! good on you man! i'm not looking at professional league, but more looking to get my body into shape (esp in terms of nutrition) and then maybe make league more enjoyable and fun.

what are your goals with league and training?

Yup the mighty lions....lol Really enjoyed my time when Bluey was there learnt alot from him with his time at the club. My goal for this year was just to experience playing for a different club and see what their culture is like and attitude towards footy. Hopefully will get into coaching sometime in the near future, try and develop the young talant and keep them playing league instead of getting lost in Rugby or getting into drugs, gangs etc

I think nutrition is very important for your goals, eating the right foods and training hard will help you with your fat loss goals. I usually train 5 times a week, gym and cardio everyday tapering off on Thursday and Friday to prepare for Sat game. I do a split programme always at 4pm Mon - Chest, Abs, Tue - Legs, Wed - Back, Abs Thursday - Shoulders, Friday - Biceps, Triceps and Abs. For Cardio I always do it in the morning around 8am Mon - 10km run, Tue - 1 hour crosstrainer, Wed - 10km run, Thursday - 45 mins Crosstrainer, Friday - 45mins jog on treadmill. I've been doing this training for 5 years now and modify my trainings depending on my goals. I stay lean and fit all year at around 88kgs at 7% bodyfat, height 5'11.

Just keep on training hard and the results will come, be patient and eat heaps of good food and you'll be ok. Most of all enjoy your footy
