PIBBA

i agree, i dont' think any organisation can base membership or participation on race, age, sex or sexual preference. I reckon if someone gave it a go to enter when the crunch comes they would have to be enetered.

I tend to agree with tom terry on this issue that their are too many federations in NZ each one of them deminishing the status of a title. I was thinking of starting up the NZMBBF

New Zealand Midget body building federation. than i get to name myself as Mr New Zealand for the NSMBBF :pfft:

by the way all this is just a stick at the "man" not at anyones efforts of physiques :)

Any one can compete in the PIBBA show.

A few years ago PIBBA tried to hold various classes based on the different Pacific Islands for example Mr.Tonga, Miss Tonga,Mr. Samoa etc but they had to stop doing this as they have no legal naming rights.Mr.Tonga can only be held in Tonga and so on, otherwise we could have Mr. New Zealand held in Mongolia(probably about the same build)-just joking guys.

Consequently the NZFBB sanctions the PIBBA organisation to hold their contest but under the IFBB Constitutuion and indeed the NZFBB Constitution there are no barriers in race or religion and were deemed to be discriminatory unless the contest was opened up to all people.

The profits from the show go to PIBBA but they do pay a sanction fee to the NZFBB who supply the judges. The sanction fee is not that much and having run shows for many years for the NZFBB profits can range from $5000.00 to $20,000.Somehow I dont think the profits are that good this year.PIBBA have paid for some athletes to compete in the Australasians and the World Champs so they have put some of their money back into the sport as well as preaching the good word that bodybuilding is better than drugs in the local schools for instance.

Dear Froggie thanks for your comments but in actual fact I support the existence of 2 Federations as a monopoly is not desirable as it gives total control over the athletes who then get treated badly.

Remember we have had 2 Federations for several years and both have thrived and made healthy profits but you need to canvas your members for THEIR opinions on how we can do it better.Listen to your members whatever you do or they wont be there to listen to you. This is precisely what has happened in the NZFBB.I cannot comment on NABBA as they seem to be doing ok and it would be wrong of me to comment on an organisation I have not belonged too.Hope this is not too boring-thanks for your attention.

was a well run comp.

Not sure I'd agree with that for the day show. Why have everyone (60+) competitors) do their routines during the day, especially when it says on the NZFBB website that if there are 50+ competitors routines will only be done during the night show? After one big class had had lots of comparison rounds the head judge let them go off stage and was about to announce the next class when someone reminded him they hadn't done their routines. 'Good God' he said (into the microphone, for everyone to hear). This from the same judge who had one of the women's classes turning around several times because he couldn't recall if he'd asked them to do one of the poses already.

By the way, are the routines judged? The judges all seemed to be sitting there, not writing anything down, when these were on during the day show.

Then why call it PIBBA !!!!!! shouldnt it be the NZFBB, and if they did have the routines WHY, thought they had new rules about that for the morning and eveing shows, thats if they were following NZFBB rules, or maybe PIBBA has there own rules !!

Im not bagging the show I am bagging the name and its confusion for every one I know beleive it is for polynesian only , bet you ask any one in your gym and they would think the same !!

Hey the only photos I've got are of me and my husband. The guy doing the photography seems to be a bit of a dead loss. Have heard numerous competitors complain about him. THe only photos I've seen on the NZFBB site are of the overall winners! Had a good time at the comp. The only complaint being they called my class way too fast, no relax poses, no symetry round and no tricep pose. All that posing practice wasted!!!! Getting ready for CNI's and National!! :D

I would have thoguht point of veiw that what PIBBA has done was the JOB of the NZFBB(actualy it is if you read the constitution)and this job should be done with out any divide!!

You are right Hrdcor, the Constitution basically says that the purpose of the NZFBB is to organise bodybuilding shows the profits of which(if there are any )go to the NZFBB.Some committee members have consistenly opposed the sanctioning of shows to outside organisations or people.Either run them for the NZFBB or do your own thing with your own rules.Being sanctioned by the NZFBB can possibly allow them access to funding from the Lion Foundation etc and of course utilise the NZFBB documentation for registration etc.

What is particularly bad management is that the NZFBB are running shows in the early part of the year when few competitors are interested in competing yet the NZFBB Committee sanctions PIBBA to run a show when interest is running high because the athletes want to qualify for the Nationals. Having two PIBBA organisers on the NZFBB Committee doesn't help matters.I read with interest the postings of the genuine bodybuilders on this website who just want a fair go in their chosen hobby and when they compete have confidence in the people judging them. The Head Judge at the PIBBA show has never competed in a bodybuilding show in his life and from the comments from the members of this website on the contest procedures, the lack of product knowledge was painfully obvious.

According to the IFBB judging procedures the posing routines are judged.

and at the World Champs they are judged(top 5 only)Maybe they have lost the rule book?
