Planning the NZBB Challenge 2009

How many people are interested in doing our Challenge this year? Have you got any suggestions on how it should be run?

Here are the rules from last year:

Entrants will be judged for Best Overall Physique and Most Improved Physique, so you've all got a chance at winning, regardless of how big you are. Prizes for the runners-up will be in the Most Improved category - so those of you with perfect physiques already will just have to make them more perfect. Sorry about that.

  • Entrants will be required to post sets of progress photos at approximately 10-week intervals. The deadlines will be put in the Event Calendar, so you'll be able to see D-day looming.
  • Give each other advice. For instance, someone might need to work on their chest more, or pose with their elbows higher - that kind of thing.
  • Contestants must enter photos in all three sets, even if they're only going for Best Overall physique.
  • For Most Improved, comparisons will be made between the first and last sets, so photos should be taken from the same angle as far as possible.
  • For each set, each contestant must post the following photos:
    • a Front Double Bicep pose,
    • a Back Double Bicep pose,
    • two different poses of their choice, and
    • a relaxed pose showing the contestant holding either a newspaper, or a sign with their username and the current date clearly visible.

[*]All photos should be full-body shots from head to toe. (Faces can be blocked out if you wish).

[*]Shorts should be rolled up to show quads/hams.

[*]The Most Improved cannot be won by the Best Overall winner. If this happens, the "next-most improved" will take the prize.

[*]In the case of really spectacular transformations, we reserve the right to demand proof. :D

Couple of points for discussion:

- Should this be open to novice competitors only? Or is it motivating to see the veteran competitors' progress?

- Last year we allowed some people to enter their on-stage competition photos, with proper tan, lighting etc. Is that unfair?

- Anything else?

outline the dates we are looking at here.

i am doing my summer cut 2nd Nov til end of Dec, and im pretty shur we had a timefrime that ended around end of Oct last year-that would dictate me entering or not.

How would ths proof be demanded?

I know there are two sides to the argument about allowing contest photos. Yes, people have done lots of work to earn them, but personally, i think when you are comparing change, it has to be fair.

But, if you can get enough sponsors/entrants, then it would be possible to have 2 separate categories, one for people with a competition photo, and one for people without.

I think that veterans should be allowed to compete, but possibly for a different prize? it is inspiring to see them, but as a newbie, i don't think i can compete against someone who has had 10 years experience and has just finished a bulking cycle before they take their first picture...

I would be a first time entrant.

It sounds like last years competition seemed to go well. Re. the photos, I think it would be hard to draw the line - for example, someone taking photos at home vs good lighting photos in a gym vs competition photos.

I personally think on stage photos should not be allowed, but photos taken say before or after you go on, fulfilling the posing requirements of the comp should be allowed.

If it was 5 months(Liike last year), and if we started on june 1st, then it would finish on november the 1st... I think it is better to have it finish before christmas, as personally, i don't want to have to worry too much about what i eat on christmas day etc.

I believe anyone should have the right to do the NZBB Challenge, some people may not be competing this year and look worse than some newbies :shifty: Yeah I ate all the pies.

Possibly 1st and final pics need to be at home or in the similar setting (garden possibly brrrr bit nippy in winter though), not professional on stage pics? Bit of tan optional. Back stage pics may be an option for competitors, however depending on dates it may not fit around comp dates so may not apply.

Categories should be open to anyone though most improved seems to be more for newbies, though some off season fatties like me can fit in this catergory and best overall seems to go to more seasoned atheletes that may be competing.

Voting is by all NZBB members so at the end of the day NZBB members choose who wins each category regardless of how muscular, huge, lightening, tan etc.... I

im kean for comp to end around nats time etc (as im sure many others will) due to being in there most cut faze (as most arnt gona be keen to hold it out till nov).

i also think that on stage photos shouldnt be allowed as it givesd an unfair advantage having the perfect tan, lighting etc.

and i agree that any1 should be allowd to enter

that is all

Well, surely you can submit pictures early if you want...(but if this is the case, it should be mentioned in the rules)

I thought November worked well for people who just wanted to get cut for summer...

EDIT: The NABBA nats are on October 25th, so first of november isn't too far away... NZFBB ones are early october...

I agree, this is a bodybuilding forum and would be great to end the competition around Nats date. October something is it?

so if they do decide to have end of comp at nov and it doesnt suit, can we (the competitors) pick our final photos (being at our most cut) to submit for our final comparison photos, meaning we may not have used the full time intended for the nzbb comp(so be more a 4mth transfermation instead of 5mth)??

I don't see why this would be a problem, assuming you were happy being judged in the same group as people who had 5 months...

Will you be entering Lamborghini man?

assuming the timing works, sure.

i'm keen to lose some weight, and the incentive of prizes often helps.

you?

did you do it last year?

if not, so far, we have 2 novices, and i'm sure that there will be more. Debzie, who is doing BFL might be interested...

But i can't start till late may... :(

na, wasnt even on here when that started. im planning on starting cutting around end of june, will be shooting for most improved by spending 5 months losing my mammoth gut....
