Cycle for strength gains

Recommended Posts

For strength gains, train for strength! Heavy.

Dbol kick start, test & deca. But Training will get you strong.

I still find it amusing listening to people talk about "strength cycles". As frocko says its mainly down to the training rather than the compounds. Sure certain compounds effect metabolite levels more than others ( and cause one to hold more intramuscular fluid and obviously this give greater mechanical advantages), but all the crap in the world ain't going to maximise your strength if you aint training for strength gains!!

Point in case is my training partner who after 3 years natural training (in tested NZPF) won national PLing titles, set NZ PLing records (after a year!), and won NZ Strongest Man. In short he did the basics very well (ate like his life depended on it, slept 8+hours every night, didn't drink / use drugs etc); but more so he trained like a demon and took the time to plan his training cycles (low volume / deload periods included).

If you wanna get truly strong, I suggest you read up on Westside Barbell & EliteFTS. Do what you like with the gear, but if you're going to train like a BBer expect to be as strong as the average BBer (not very!). Just to pre-empt the flow of dribble about how strong Ronnie is etc, recognise that a lot of top pro's have some PLing background and/or train for discrete periods focussing on lower rep strength work (and some are simply genetic freaks!!)

Oxymethelone (Anadrol-50) is supposed to work a treat at giving strength gains, but of all the compounds you could use it will probably have the most side-effects,

I have never used it as was too scared to do so, used d-bol instead

It is a DHT analog and if you suffer from male pattern baldness even propecia will do nothing to stop it.

It is quite liver toxic and perhaps this steroid has the worst potential for damaging your liver.

The guys i new that used it got incredible water retention and all felt like shit (except when in the gym pushing huge weights they had never lifeted before)

Perhaps Anadrol-50 has got a little unfair reputation of being a hard drug, and this could be due to the high dose per tablet (50mg)

compare this to 5mg or 10mg for the D-bol or 5mg for anavar and you see that 50mg is a high dose in 1-tab. I don't know many people who take 50mg of D-bol at once?

Perhaps the side effects from anadrol could be reduced by using smaller amounts of say 1/2 tablet or 25mg at a time (maybe 25mg twice or x3 times daily)

Just be sure to get your liver function done every couple of weeks while you use the stuff and don't use for too long (4 weeks max)

Anadrol use to be the drug of choice to stimulate red blood cell production for a rare kind of Anemia.

It is seldom used these days as Erythropoiten has replaced it.

On a final note, the link between steroids and cancer of the liver has never really being proven, but if a link between steroids and liver cancer ever is proved then It would most likely be Anadrol was involved, so use the drug with care.

yeah...............i think ive been around long enough to know this  i was thinking about doing 5 sets of 25 reps for each muscle group that would be the way to go right?

i didnt ask for a training programme i asked what compound has big strength gaining qualities besides test.

ive used deca on my first cycle and started off on 40mg dbol a day for 3 weeks for the cycle just gone.

130 bench 200 deadlift not sure about squats lol

Really?

There's not too many of the 50+ rugby boys in our gym that can't exceed those numbers and they don't even train specifically for bench, deadlift (and the squats you've obviously shyed away from). I'm sure very few of them have even seen the compounds you've tried :naughty:

Too be blunt (but without trying to be rude for the sake of it :P ) I think that if you've done 2 cycles of 500mg test, with Deca & DBol, and you have the figures you have something is going wrong?

Novice lifters who have hardly taken supplements let alone gear are hitting numbers around yours in comps every month (with a squat too!).

I politely suggest your gear intake isn't whats holding your strength back.

just train heavy u have enough gear bro

Kind of! :P

Although when just training heavy, like at the tail end of a traditional linear periodisation peaking cycle for a PLing comp, you tend to detrain your explosiveness.

Effects some more than others - doing this or just training as heavy as I could all the time would make me (and many others) strong but not to full potential as lifts tend to get slower ('grinding out reps'). Doing some Dynamic Effort work helps to make you more explosive (my poor definition is 'recruiting as many fibres as possible to produce the biggest muscular force possible') and enable you to realise your full strength.

Have to agree. You want a cycle for strength when your currently fairly weak. Spend your money on food and a personal trainer.

I'm guessing they are gym lifts too, so I'll know of 20kgs from the bench

yes i wouldnt say im strong however what could you lift before you started training? i was 60kg and struggled to get out 8 reps with 17.5 kg dumbells. ive made massive gains and just because i might not be as strong as someone who trains naturally dosent mean im not gaining. thats exactly why i took gear to level the playing feild.
