Think about your mouth, and how often you swallow. And then the feeling of being completely dehydrated, and swallowing with a sore throat. Submandibular gland removal is often performed when there are cancerous cells in the saliva glands, and thus when they are removed its impossible to ever produce saliva in ones mouth. Therefore these patients always carry round with them water bottles, its like trying to satisy an insatiable dry throat.

So, conclusively, not just bodybuilders carry around water bottles, these patients do too; Gym Rats statement is inaccurate.

I wouldn't have thought that though, if only the submaxillary glands removed you still have the parotid, sublingual and minor salivary glands to secrete salivary amylase. If the cancer is that bad though the treatment could kill of alot of the cells in that area which would probably cause dry mouth.
