Forearms giving up early?

Everyone learn the hook grip and don't use straps ffs. You'll be using friction to hold the weight and not muscle strength. You should be able to handle most any weight with this grip, assuming it's a pulling excercise. Also use this grip over the alternate grip for deads, even elite power lifters have torn biceps with it...

straps do have a purpose

if im training back and going heavy ie over 220kgs deads i use straps

or on very heavy tbar rows

its not my wrists that are weak its the grip on the bar finger wise.

i want to feel the exersize where im targeting it and not worry because im loosing grip on the bar so loose focus.

sure some guys will say go lighter but why????? thats not going to target the area im supposed to be working the way i want to.

but theres no reason straps should be used with lighter weights.

If you mean the bar is getting slippery then that can be easily fixed with a shit load of chalk but if your fingers actually give way ie. unable to keep them flexed then thats definitely, mostly forearms as your finger flexors are muscles in your forearm originating at your elbow joint. As far as I'm aware, wrists, as a functional joint, don't have much to do with holding a bar when dead lifting. So its forearms giving out, not so much fingers or wrists.

nope definitely my fingers loosing grip

my forearms are never a problem and are pretty strong same with my wrists.

im not into power lifting so happy to use straps over a certain weight

i dont feel any tension or lack of strength in my forearms

like i said im happy to use straps as im working my back so dont see a problem

just find its a personal preference as to what you are training for.
