Hi all... just been reading all the posts you seem very knowledgeable so...

I feel a little embarrased to ask, being as you all seem to be dedicated gym-goers, however here goes.. is it possible to get good results from a total gym, using your own body weight as resistance? Not that I don't believe Chuck & Christy haha...

I'm carrying excess (nice way of putting it) & unfortunately I can't blame baby weight anymore, the baby is now 2!!! LOL.. + I'm one of those "older" mothers so i'm sure i'll have to work extra hard to get it off.

Hubby works all day and I start at 2.30pm-10 so I manage to fit in some v.brisk treadmill walking for an hour while son has a nap and the odd "crack" at the total gym either first thing in the morning before bub gets up or after work (when I least feel like it). Just wanted to get your honest opinion as to whether good results are within reach if I perservere with it, or whether I'll have to try and make time to get to a "proper" gym. Thanks for your input. :)

Whatever works for you, if you feel youre an intrinsically driven kinda person and need no external kind of motivation and can consistently train week after week after week on a "total gym" in ur garage or spare room by urself then it may be for you.

I tried that with a home gym and concluded that I need to be in a public gym for whatever reason.. membership, a place I know I have to attend at a set time after work, other motivated people around me all there for the same reason (getting the vibe), lots of machines and variety, checking ur ah.. mmm "form" in the mirror.. etc.

not sure what the total gym is but if you can do upper body, and ur Core with Pilates, lower body when walking/running etc and you can get creative with ur exercises then yeah no need for a gym.
