choice of bloods for control testing?

am planning to get blood test 2mrw, as a 'before' measure as im about to try novadex and zma and am gna get the bloods done after aswell to compare. My question - i want to test estrogen, total test and 'free' test(as far as i understand),

What are the proper names for the tests i need? i rang medlabs and they told me i need to give specific names for the tests i want, help appreciated?

bear in mind im not concerned with the reproduction side of things, just wanna know which things to get tested to most accurately guage the effect of the supps.

Free testosterone level requires x2 sepaerate tests and then a simple calulation see below...

you need:

i) Total Testosterone

ii) SHBG (sex hormone binding globulin)

now they will calculate what is called the "free Androgen Index" or FAI

FAI = Total test/SHBG

The FAI is the same thing as free testosterone (or available testosterone)

Estrogen is also called "oestradiol"

So iii) Oestradiol

finally iv) LH (luetenising Hormone)

The 4 tests will be adequate pre and post cycle.

expect to pay around $60- $75 for these tests, but may be free if you go thru a friendly GP.

OMCV6 I believe FAI is not quite the same measurement as Serum Free Test. Its a calculation of Total Test divided by SHBG. Its a convenient & cheaper calculation of FT bioavailability but not as accurate as it assumes normal serum albumin levels which can vary in some individuals. Is that your assessment? SFF check out Agent Orange's thread on this matter. It will definately give you a base to work from in the future if using PH's or AAS

well i finally got my tests back, results are fairly shite! im on novadex xt and zma atm, and plan to retest after these are done, if theres no improvement im going to get an endo. referral, im only 26, great diet (see journal), dont smoke/drink, so results are dismaying. thought id post them up for some more knowledgable folks to comment..

So these were done before you started ZMA & Novadex XT Bro? Had you done any cycles of AAS or PH's before?

yep, these are my 'baseline' stats, unfortunately.

and nope, only been lifting with any real knowledge since jan this year. after the nova/zma course, will retest, but even so im gonna get a referral and see a ?endocrinologist?...

explains the 80kg deadlifts tho :doh:

Man my test was 18 and I was 36 y/o, why your LH is up, maybe it's thinking "man I gotta make some test for this guy" so it's working O/T

hope the supps do something mate else see the endo-guy

Supps can only take things up to a normal level, so depends what state of normal you were in at the time of the blood test:

overworked?

stressed?

over-trained?

under-nourished?

low fats?

What have your dosages been on the Novedex?

Some people have reported loss of libido with it - you been all good?

What sort of gains did ya make?

And just ZMA as your other main supp, no Trib or anything?

Either way, look forward to seeing your results bro - hopefully they are right up!

novadex 2 tabs in morn, ON zma 3 caps at night.

libido - im single, dont know :grin: def still keen for bush. :pfft:

strength is up, dont know if its the supps or not though. Na trib works by stimulating LH, and my LH is already high as so it woulda been a waste. yea man will be posting up 2nd results in my journal!

Bahaha, good man.. my libido is really low along with my LH so I will likely have to chuck in some Trib.

what time do you normally hit the sack SFS? novadex should be taken before bed as per instructions, same with ZMA i thought??

be interesting to see how things go if you're taking it at the start of the day.

i try to be in bed at 8.30, but mostly around 9. alarm goes off at 2.50, so i know i need more sleep, but i really think i needa new job!!
